Technology helps us every day. I am using it right now to communicate with you. When will it go too far? Are we losing our connection with reality? Will we soon reach an event horizon? How much further can we push before we reach the point of no return?
Telling the truth is hard. Kara lied about her identity to her best friend. She kept making excuses for putting off telling Lena the truth. She had good reasons to justify it to herself. The consequence of waiting is that someone else may reveal the truth for you. Kara delayed so long that Lena heard the truth from Lex. Leave it to the Villian to reveal secrets and stir up trouble.
A distress call from the Museum interrupted Kara and Lena’s lunch. The truth will have to wait again. There is an unknown entity in National City. She is a shapeshifter masquerading as a harmless child. Why is she zooming away in the pod that brought Superman to earth? After the battle in the Museum J’onn is left with a muddled mind. As for Supergirl she suffered the claws of a prehistoric predator. She seems ok but her cape may not survive.
I wonder how Catco will spin this story? Andrea Rojas, owner of Obsidian North, has bought the paper. She is far more motivated by clicks on a headline than journalistic integrity. How will this affect Kara who is being given an award for reporting the truth? Moments before the presentation the truth pours out of Kara in a rush. Lena was immediately pulled on stage leaving Supergirl to wonder what the consequences of her deceit will be.
Lena is isolating herself. She is relying on a virtual assistant. She sold Catco so she can have the capital for other projects. She argues that humans are too driven by their emotions. She is challenging herself to simulations. She is hoping to disconnect herself from her humanity.
Miss Luthor is not the only one with a score to settle. The little girl I mentioned earlier was only a pawn. She was being used to gather objects her mistress needed to enter our world. Midnight materialized through a transmatter portal ready to fight. Supergirl is not the foe she seeks but J’onn J’onzz is.
It was J’onn who banished Midnight to the Phantom Zone. She had aided the White Martians in destroying his whole race. Midnight sucks him into a black hole. Without a moment of hesitation Supergirl flies into action. Brainy gives her dire odds but she uses solar flares from her eyes to help J’onn. She will always be there to help her team regardless of the consequences. Maybe not a pawn after all the mysterious little girl remains. What is her mission?
What will be the price to pay for deceiving Lena. She says she doesn’t want to kill Supergirl only cause her pain as she has caused Lena. She didn’t send the article to Andrea. That gives me a ray of hope that this friendship can be repaired. For now Lena is presenting a facade of forgiveness. She is a scorpion preparing to strike. This is far from our only problem.
When J’onn returns to his office someone is waiting for him. Just when we are sure we know the last Green Martian another one turns up. What does he want? I have so many questions. What about Leviathan? We were told Lex failed to move the needle. Is Obsidian North the next tool that is being used. It could be a good Company. Kelly said her new job there will be helping patients with dementia and PTSD.
Technology can have positive and negative effects. Will it be used to control people and bend them to the will of Leviathan? I fear Eve has reached the point of no return. She cannot run any more. This organization is everywhere. There is no escape. We will have to tune in next week to see who makes the next move. Until then this is your eye in the sky wishing you a super week.
Is Obsidian North just a tool of Leviathan?

Martian Manhunter (2018-) #1
No matter what you know about J’onn J’onnz, you’re not prepared for this! The acclaimed team of writer Steve Orlando and artist Riley Rossmo (BATMAN/ THE SHADOW, BATMAN: NIGHT OF THE MONSTER MEN) reteam for a reinvention of the Manhunter from Mars in this twisted, unexpected series. Back on Mars, J’onn was about as corrupt as a law officer can be, and when a reckoning comes for his entire society, he’ll get a second chance he doesn’t want or deserve! One shocking murder, and an unexpected fragment of the Mars he lost, will change his life—and the course of the Earth—forever!
WELCOME BACK!!!
Really? You guys are going to open season five with a no pants banner shot? Pants! 🙂 It makes you different though so I like that. 🙂 Much love always to the best TV superhero suit yet; I hope either Melissa takes the original home to keep or Greg puts it in an museum because that thing was basically perfect!
Some blog post comments…
“Are we losing our connection with reality?” – I hope they use Kelly to point out it’s not reality we’re losing at times but if anything it’s empathy perhaps and that’s what should really be watched for as it’s easy to be someone else behind a keyboard, who that person is may be good or bad – bad is not good. I would love to see her champion technology because maybe she’s seen the good it can do for veterans and active military people and just people in general but do warn of the emotional disconnect more because I think point-counterpoint debates are much better than being heavy handed like they were last year with things as even if you agree with the responses it can feel really poorly executed you know? If you disagree with a stance then point-counterpoint might help you understand the other side more rather than being beat over the head if you will with something you already disagree with because it sounds like a talking point you’ve heard over and over so you’re already prone to tuning out if that makes sense.
I agree technology can be beneficial as we wouldn’t know about all the fellow listeners out there without it, they’d just be a stat number when it comes to ratings, so there are pluses but I also get the concerns for being too “disconnected to reality” because of reliance on it.
I’m just waiting to see if the do the “Obsidian steals Lena’s simulations and almost outs Kara as Supergirl so the gang (including Lena has to stop Andrea” plot; you would think Lena would be smart enough to keep her stuff off their servers in any form possible but we also thought she was smart enough to know Kara was Supergirl so we’ll see. 🙂
“Is Obsidian North just a tool for Leviathan?” – if they’re willing helpers does that make them just tools or part of the group, like a division?
I love the idea of polls for episodes! 🙂
On to the podcast…
Yay K Vox got a mention in the new opening! 🙂
Mitch will always be Agent Skinner!
Nia and Brainy are ADORABLE!
I like Rojas better than Day, I’ll say that; she had a Cat vibe of talking to Kara which was fun to see but she’s rougher than Cat when it comes to the paper so that’s where her audience rub will come in I think as we don’t like people messing with CatCo. I’m excited to see what she brings to the season. 🙂
“Kara wins a Pulitzer” – LOL I agree John that’s funny every time someone says it; she’s not a reporter, Nia is a reporter. Kara is promotions for CatCo and does deserve an award for that but reporting no. She’s not Clark writers stop with that plot line please; or don’t and I’ll just get at least one laugh a week. 🙂
J’onn a dirty cop? No. A good pick for the flip Justina but pass.
I have to be honest and say as much as I love Geoff on the show, I’m not a fan of Flashes From The Underground as a part of this podcast. I say that because Flash does have a GSM podcast so it’s not like he needs to share because one hasn’t been created yet like is a case for “Batwoman” so far who I would get more as Kara interacted with her last crossover at least and they’re line up buddies this season. And I say it so much with Clark I have to extend it to Barry – let this be Kara’s show. I’m all for talking other characters during the review as maybe something they did that week mimics something happening on “Supergirl” the same week or even in the same season, but I don’t like a crossover podcast if you will. I get doing the big crossover podcast episode come crossover event time but week to week I want to have all the time for the select show I tuned into; again all for Geoff coming in to talk “Supergirl” as a guest host/feedbacker but I’m not a fan of this podcast addition.
Melissa killed the performance at the award show!
Ugh they probably will say at some point Kara is the next Lois Lane before Kara says she wants to be the next Cat.
Yep, anytime you see “written by Derek Simon” you know Monty is going to hate the writing at least. Ha.
“She thinks the contracts are crap!” – K Vox always on point. 🙂
I think Lena can be trusted with Lara’s secret, she’s not her mother or her brother after all…a least she SHOULDN’T be; we’re watching you writers, don’t screw up Lena!
Kara doesn’t need a man every season; just because the other heroes are paired off doesn’t mean she has to be. 🙂 I honestly like single and dating Kara more than any relationship Kara so far; Adam was good but sadly didn’t last long. As for Kelly/Alex, I personally still have a torch for Alex/Sam but I think they’re ok. I’m honestly happy to see Kelly being shown as not just a girlfriend which sadly we didn’t get enough of with Maggie so there’s that!
I think this episode was a good season set up episode but not a really stand out weekly episode.
Darryl V Leslie – it’s Turning Point MOS edition . 🙂
