Hey kids! Maid of Steel is pleased to present this bonus episode of the podcast, featuring a discussion solely based off the feedback we received for Supergirl Season 1 Episode 19 entitled “Myriad”. Once again we received more feedback than we wanted to insert at the end of the regular podcast discussion, so instead of short-changing the fantastic insights of our listeners, we produced this episode. But seriously, it was our pleasure.
Myriad
I wrote a blog post for episode 19, which can be found here. Also at that link you’ll be able to listen to our regular discussion, in case you are hitting this page without having heard the initial discussion!

I do love evil Max. I love how Peter plays him with just the right touch that makes you feel “You know I’m slimey, but admit it – you enjoy when I show up even if it’s a little because you get to yell at me” regarding Max; he’s the bad guy you love to see show up pretty regularly. Chlyer was good on “Grey’s Anatomy”, but some of the plots they had for her character weren’t; no matter what they try to suggest, to me Lexie was never the love of Mark’s life – that was Addison and Mark and Lexie weren’t good together. I agree with Meg regarding her episode ratings and opinion on Superman’s appearance. I have mixed feelings about Clark being on “Supergirl”, he already is in a way with the text conversations and they do do the haze appearances and as pointed out by the commenter the show is about Kara and how she’s different from Clark and I wouldn’t want him to pull focus from her however if they did it like Flash’s appearance it wouldn’t be so bad but I do wonder which Clark we might get – will it be the “Man Of Steel” version just played by someone besides Henry Calliveri since Cat mentioned Lois as a redhead and the only redheaded Lois Lane is in “Man Of Steel” or will it be some mash up version of all the Supermans? Will his appearances feel more stuntish like Flash’s currently or will they actually be organic like Jonn’s reasoning for being there? I can understand the appeal of seeing them interact face to face but I don’t know if I need to actually see Clark’s face; if they had someone who sounds like Henry talking while we see the shot of someone in the suit but not their face that could work too. I know most would want to see his face, but I don’t know if I need too right now until I hear more on how he might be used.
As much as Kara loves Clark, it would definitely hurt more having Alex kill her because Kara knows Alex more than she knows Clark; yes they’re family and they talk but they’re not in each others lives to the extent Kara and Alex are. It’d be like placing Clark in a position where he has to fight Lois in a situation like we saw between the siblings but then having Lucy show up instead – yes it would still hurt Clark to kill Lucy given their relationship but not like it would having to fight Lois if that makes sense. Beyond the “because exposition is need” reason, I wonder why the Fortress of Solitude Alura finally told Kara about Myriad but the pod crystal version wouldn’t?
It would be fun to have biweekly or monthly hiatus podcast episodes; you could tackle the typical topics of “What would you like to see in S2?” and “What were your favorite S1 moments?” or be more challenging by asking fans what are some comics Supergirl has appeared in that they would recommend and have Karen talk about them with imput from Emilee and you could do a whole podcast on the new comics coming for the series discussing how it compares/differs from the show, how it fits into the story, and if there’s scenes you’d like to see onscreen. We could definitely keep the podcast party going during the hiatus. I look forward to the next episodes!
