When Lena Luthor first moved to National City she lived in a hotel. She was not sure if this is where she would make a permanent home. She bought Catco. Why would she ever want to be the next Cat Grant when she has the legacy and wealth of the Luthor family to build upon? Lena chooses to be different. Her choice is to use her vast intelligence and influence to do good for the city and the world. She wants her science and technology to ease suffering and do no harm. The writers have chosen plots for Lena that have caused her to walk the line between darkness and light. When she is hurt by her friends she has definitely flirted with plans of vengeance. The community here at Maid of Steel shouted in unison “Lena is Good!” I think Lex said it best when he said he was born of a poisonous union, but Lena was born of love. She only had her birth mother in her life for a short time, but her kind spirit and generosity live on in Lena. It is her heart that makes her inherently different from Lex, Lillian, and Lionel. When Superman betrayed Lex they became mortal enemies. I am thankful that our series has explored forgiveness between Supergirl and Lena.
I know that the show perpetuated the secret of Supergirl’s identity between Kara and Lena way too long. It is not believable that a woman as intelligent as Lena would not figure out that Kara is Supergirl on her own. I still choose to believe she knew in the back of her mind but chose not to reveal it because she did not want to face the idea of being lied to. We have complained that Lena is often isolated from the group. I still think this version of Lena is better than the one portrayed on Smallville. Our series presents a more well-developed character that we got to spend more screen time with. Lena Luthor was brought to life by the amazing Katie McGrath. I am glad the chapter of secrets is over and we can head into our final episodes with Lena in Supergirl’s inner circle where she always should have been. Please join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we discuss the loveliest Luthor of them all. We can’t wait to hear what our Superfriends have to say. Here on Golden Spiral Media you are the most important part of the show! This is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly, have a super week!

So much pretty Lena face content in the banner this week. ?
Some blog post comments…
“When Superman betrayed Lex they became mortal enemies. I am thankful that our series has explored forgiveness between Supergirl and Lena.” – our series never should have gone there though as it was super cliche; they had Lillian to be the evil female Lex, even flirting with the plot for Lena was poorly done because like Kelly wanting to be Guardian it doesn’t work for what we were shown to that point! It was just another example in my book of copying Superman and it was annoying to watch.
“It is not believable that a woman as intelligent as Lena would not figure out that Kara is Supergirl on her own.” – THIS; SO MUCH THIS!!!
“Where would you like Lena’s story to continue?” – why are we being limited to one? I don’t like this and thusly in true unpredictable Luthor fashion I will ignore the rules! Ha.
“Stargirl” could be fun for some guest stuff if they move into our universe but she’s never going to be the main character. Lena is too serious for Legends so that would never work; also I don’t want it to be known as the “Supergirl” dumping grounds so if we send Nia there we can’t also send Lena as our characters are too good to be just dumped off in one spot as it were! “The Flash” and Superman are also out because Flash is having their own issues I hear and Superman refuses to acknowledge we exist I hear even though we got them there series (Yeah I said it CW – you know it’s true too! ?); Lena deserves better than to be called a replacement Cisco and she would always play second fiddle to Lex on Superman even if she did get on there so yeah I’ll pass on those even if “Superman & Lois” makes timeline sense for her.
Comics as always give plenty of space and if we get Nicole to write more Dreamer stuff maybe Katie can come in and help work on an issue which features Lena?! ?
I don’t think CW is smart enough now days to realize the gold they have in some actors so I think Lena’s story will end here beyond some mentions because I feel once the series ends Katie will move on to another project that’s not superhero based. You know where she could work if she did continue? And Alex Danvers spin off being Alex’s DEO scientist while not at L Corp running things while Sam is out playing hero saving the day at times because her wife Alex asked her to help on a mission – I’m just saying! This would again mean the CW realize what they have in Chyler and keeps her around and again I don’t think they get that to the level they should sadly. So yeah I’ll say I could take “Stargirl” guest appearances, an Alex spin off, or comics but I feel the reality will be this is the end of Lena as we know her for quite awhile. ☹️
On to the podcast…
Boo, John didn’t do the Count voice! ?? I don’t know which is more disappointing- seasons five and six or this dude! Get it together John geez. ?
The dog could have a whole floor to itself at the hotel, it will be fine. 🙂
There’s the Count; way to pull it together. Ha!
Lol to John’s William…it was an awesome job though sir. ?
LIVEWIRE IS NOT DEAD – NO BODY NO DEATH!!! Don’t make me @ you over this Leslie. Ha. Leslie Willis jumped into the power matrix of the time machine and so now she’s currently living in the 31st century annoying Mon – it is the only acceptable head-cannon thank you. 🙂
You know where else Odette could go? An Alex Danvers spin off!
I want to expand a bit on the statement regarding how Jor’s being alive affects Kara and the series, yes it’s true for 15 years Kara felt she was the only one of her family beyond Clark to survive so emotionally even though that status has changed she still carries those emotions with her and they are no less real for her and all they bring up, that said why I feel him alive weakens her story from a viewer point is it makes her crying over those moments less impactful because we know he’s alive. We as viewers can’t unsee that he and everyone else that seems important to her are alive except her aunt and uncle (Clark’s parents – they’re the only Kryptonians who truly stay dead) and so it lessens the chances we’ll cry with Kara now because instead of being “We feel you Kara!” we’re now like “Girl just wait five minute there will be another one coming around the corner” and it shouldn’t be that way when your story sets up the fact you had a PLANETARY loss. As John said it blew up and we’re lucky to get the prisoners on Fort Rozz and the cousins plus Reign – forget everyone else being alive! If Jor is alive it will be another element in the list of missteps for the series. 🙁
Bottom line to the cast goodbye stuff – I’m sad about it ending and the series deserved better!!!
Melissa 100% should get the season one suit but they probably won’t give it to her tragically; at the least she should get the pants version because she deserves it and that’s not museum worthy like the season one one in my opinion. It’s not like the CW cares about the series anymore so why not let them take whatever they want? Give Chyler Alex’s DEO badge because that is Alex’s love (if you aren’t saving it for the spin off give it to her), Azie can have the Guardian helmet…the less that suit is together the better; Nicole and David should also get their suits but I feel they’ll actually hold off on them because then they can put Nia maybe on Legends to say the show continues even if it’s not with any OGs and if you have David guest star on the Superman series then you COULD set up the Justice League and do a spin of for that. I guess that counts for us as a spin off then because yeah we’re responsible for Superman getting his show and then thusly that and if you have David as a mentor in season one as J’onn then it could work…I still want the Alex spin off though too. Ha. “I had a feeling this was coming” – you’re the only one Alex, no one else wanted this! Ha. That was a fun bit for sure; thanks for including it. 🙂
Wait a minute…this episode is starting and there’s no Daryl guest hosting…this is illegal; Lena has a right to have her lawyer present during these questioning of her character! 🙂
Lena is totally a 9 in rating without question!
She’s always been team tower John; I can see her plateauing in terms of what we’ll see because we know who Lena is but I don’t think that makes her any less interesting because there’s always the question of how far will she go in the name of what she thinks is good but we just know she will always do go. She’s like Alex in that way – an anti hero and they are the most fun even if you know they’re more hero side than villain. The CW needs to embrace anti characters more; Black Siren would have been SO much better if they did instead of trying to force her into being Laurel Lance 1.0 again!
Katie is my first Lena too. 🙂
I feel like half that show would be Lillian dissing Lena’s choice in furniture John but as you say it would be so fun to watch. Ha!
Wasting more time on Lex? Pass on that thanks! They can do things with Lillian okay but him no.
Regarding her relationship with James, ??? it was so ridiculous; they only did it to give him something to do because they wanted to do anything except make him the newsman he should have been. James hated Luthors including Lena just because she was one, with a passion so him dating Lena made NO sense from his side of characterization. The majority of their relationship all he did was doubt her…it’s so bad; it’s one of the worst romantic pairings they’ve ever had on the series.
Lena is pretty…also incredibly smart and well acted; y’all Lena is Katie if Katie was a CEO. 🙂
“I love Lena, but she has been short changed her entire run on the series.” – AGREED Geoff!! Me to Geoff’s feedback ?, except to the part about wanting her with James – no to that.
“Stargirl” is currently the only superhero show on the CW I care about (not counting “Supergirl”) and I will say probably the only show on the network in general. I kind of feel like “Stargirl” season two will give us a glimpse of what we could have had if we kept or writing staff for the move; keeping your staff is important! Season three was good and as John said it’s easily the best after season one, but still imagine how much better it even might have been with the quality that season one had; again tragically Kara’s legacy may be one of hope but I feel “Supergirl” the show’s legacy will be that of wasted potential. 🙁
Season five is pretty crap I agree Leslie, but season six honestly might be more insulting to watch because they’re just continuing to write out characters out of character and do plots no one wants and for what? Because Crisis? Pass on that! Everything post season 3 has been questionable for sure but which is worse, five or six, might be a little more debatable now than previously thought!
“…suit up and fly.” – my soul hurts now. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO SUIT UP WRITERS! Ugh this is just a repeat of the Mon garbage when Kara tried to help him first hide and I hate it; nothing good comes from Jor! 100% season six is going to continue to depress me I can just see it now. 🙁
i couldn’t be lena’s lawyer for several reasons. you can’t constantly be giving your client heart eyes and plus she can do no wrong. also lena can’t be measured on any scale and if she was 9 is way too long. to quote spinal tap “these numbers go up to 11”
that should say way too low
Biasism…I see.
How about the infinity symbol for Lena? ?
That would be more accurate ?
