In the sky above National City all seems peaceful. When you turn on your super hearing you realize that the city always has a certain amount of animosity simmering below the surface. An anger that at times boils over and causes us to lose control. Maybe it is the result of someone cutting you off in traffic. Perhaps it is your mother making you feel unimportant. Sometimes it is someone else’s parents who believe their child could do better. Any of these circumstances could cause someone to become angry.
Kara Zor El was sent to an alien planet to save her life and help her cousin. It was a selfless act made by her parents. All they could think of was their only child and to preserve what was left of the House Of El. Kara found a good and supportive family in the Danvers. Perhaps there is still some sadness and anger deep inside her for being sent away from the only world she had known.
The DEO has been called in on a mission by special request of the President. Maybe taking on General Lane’s new robot code name RT will help Supergirl blow off some steam. Unfortunately our girl of Steel takes it a step too far causing the Red Tornado to enter stealth mode for self preservation. She must find this whirling fiend before it hurts the residents of National City.
Please join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we explore the anger behind the anger. Kara always wanted a normal life. What she got is an extraordinary one. Being a hero doesn’t mean she is immune to emotions. We will uncover what happens when anger is bottled up and the respect that is earned when you stand up for yourself. This is your eye in the sky Green Butterfly wishing you a super week.

Aaron, with Supergirl starting late I may do an episode summary for Batwoman & Flash to be shared out on MOS. Maybe a plotline summery for several eps instead of ep by ep until Supergirl is back on the air. We will see. I need to talk with Silver Vox & Green Butterfly.
I may tag team on Batwoman, if I can clear things to do that thing.

Some blog post comments…
“Perhaps there is still some sadness and anger deep inside her for being sent away from the only world she had known.” – perhaps? Ha. That’s a definite I feel; they took her choice away from her so that’s going to lead to anger, yes you can say it was for her own good because she’s alive and thriving and she couldn’t do that dead but as it turns out Argo City was created so who’s to say Kara wouldn’t be there if they had kept her on the planet. It’s easy to look back with answers and say they should have tried X instead of done Y but in the moment Alura did what she felt was best but that wasn’t the best in Kara’s mind so yeah there will always be sadness and anger to some degree inside of Kara over being sent away.
“Being a hero doesn’t mean she is immune to emotions.” – LOVE this line!
Oh look at K-Vox this week, she’s SO CUTE! 🙂

On to the podcast…
Here lies Silver Vox, killed by marketing. May he rest peacefully forever in the land of Arrowverse. Rage against rip off branding! Ha, I think we should all be surprised it took them this long to try this name. 🙂
Chyler Leigh on the season one bloopers – forever iconic! 😀
Also you have the only after show so…if you want one you have to come here. Ha!
I agree John there’s no reason not to do a “Supergirl” panel at Fandom; David and Nicole are already there after all!
Let Lex and Leviathan go!!!
Lol to John coughing every time at CWverse. 🙂
I know “Superman & Lois” is not my boat, but why couldn’t he have one boy and one girl? You can see the mixed up twin plot episode coming a mile away using the same gender. Is this their way of saying Kara will have a girl because we’re the “girl” show? And CW wonders why I’m skipping Lois and Clark 2.0.
SEASON ONE IS THE BEST SEASON OF THE SERIES!!!!!
Bummed Monty couldn’t be a guest host this week but look forward to the chat. 🙂
WELL SAID Justina in regards to why you can always explore Kara as an individual! Nice picks by you both for the favorite moments!
Kara and Alex didn’t have tension in this episode John. ;p Yeah I’m saying it, spoilers, Alex is Kara’s OTP! Non romantic of course; romantically…did you miss the flirting between Adam and Kara in coming episodes? Ha. I know Blake is problematic but take him out of it, character wise she was flirting; true you could argue that’s because of the relationship at the time and wanting to seem like you have a good dynamic with your husband but still I’m not so sure James is the clear OTP as you say. I mean again who does he really like – Kara or Supergirl? I’m just saying! 🙂
There’s no such thing as step, you either are or aren’t family.
Character exploration – it’s an important thing!
Daryl has to do the Lena centric podcast episode. 🙂

Spoiler for the poll: “Stargirl” season two.
There is no “Batwoman” season two, there’s a show called Batwoman they say will be on but it’s not Batwoman; if anything it’s Spoiler with the description they gave for Ryan Wilder. Oh “Batwoman” how you could have been my pick if only you went recast over reboot. I do wish the new actress well, but again I think publicity has killed this series before it’s even gotten off the ground. 🙁
I don’t watch “Flash” unless Nora is on, I don’t watch “Black Lightening” because it’s on usually at the same time another series I watch is on, “Legends Of Tomorrow” frustrates me to no end with how they treat Nyssa and don’t do interesting time stories so they’re out, and “Superman & Lois” I’m not crazy about the performances by the actors in the parts plus I can watch any number of Superman projects I don’t need this so by default it’s kind of “Stargirl”. That said the series is really good so even if the choices were harder it might be my pick! I wish you could put “Green Arrow & The Canaries” up there Justina, seriously CW what is up with the no announcement for them?!, because I’m definitely excited to watch Black Siren flirt with all the ladies. 🙂 Laurel from Earth 2 is bisexual you can’t convince me otherwise; all you need to see is her checking out every woman in “Arrow” at least once and Dinah when she arrives at the bar in the future, she especially likes Dinah. 🙂 Also I would LOVE to see anti villain Black Siren return but I will at the very least watch bisexual Black Siren who totally leans women because Katie Kassidy kills the flirting aspect with the ladies. Ha. #NoRedemptionForBlackSiren #GiveLaurel2AGirlfriend/Wife
It is not often when Jon is off the beam, but three times he sees something different from what I see.
1. Derek Simon is present. One has to look closely to see his incompetence, but the tells are there in this episode. And in spite of the clumsy patches of dialog, the episode succeeds in spite of not because of his turd rewrites.
2. Sam Lane gives as good as he gets from Hank Henshaw. Lane has a point of view as a “protector dad” that is every bit as valid as the one Hank expresses. The difference is that Hank speaks up for Kara which is “romantic”. Sam Lane speaks the way I might if I have to deal with a potential threat to everyone’s sons and daughters.
If you need explanation… think about Sam’s criticism of Kara to her face, when she diverted off target to stop the tornado when he points out that she should have fought Tornado to the finish, so that the Tornado would not escape. He is thinking of the future when the Tornado on the loose can attack again and again until it is finally caught.
That is a valid criticism. It cannot be personal, never can be personal when one has to consider the larger good.
Go back and listen to Lucy’s part of it when she tells Supergirl that she let her emotions interfere with the objective necessity.
Go back and listen to Lane’s response after Hank Henshaw accuses Lane for building a system to kill Kryptonians. Then peg forward to Astra and Non and to the Daxamites and Reign and the Leviathan aliens and maybe Sam Lane is not the monster or the pig-headed fool as he appears to superficially be?
Sam Lane might be a “villain”, but it turns out his villainy; “Stay on mission, Kara, damnit. Better a few lives lost now, than millions spent later to fix this mission.” objectively is not so villainous a viewpoint. It is sacrifice in the true sense of the word.
On the other hand; Lane did hire that psychotic to build the defective puppet.
=======================================
Anger management…
Nobody, who is a professional, can lose his temper. Those two sock puppet social commentary straw men who were about to hit the school bus full of soccer players in the road rage incident, shows that EVERYONE is at risk when someone or someones loses control. It is on point to SLAM Supergirl for losing control as well. Suppose a police officer uses his cruiser to divert two drag racing idiots. Then as he goes to arrest and the one driver jumps him, and the peace officer uses his trained ability to apply excessive force? How should that be reported?
Be objective about it. No-one is allowed. No-one is allowed to exceed the normative limits.
What about Perry White and the chair?
Suppose that chair was on the 18th floor of the Daily Planet and it went through an outside window and fell on someone in the street below?
(You have to think about some pf these Cat Grant stories.). Naybe Cat Grant did not lesson learn the RIGHT lesson.)
If a woman is held to a tough standard and complains. Then one has to ask if the woman has thought it through?
Monty fable. And TRUE story.
I once asked a Creek woman (a member of the native American tribe.) why she gave special leeway to her sons when they became raccous and scolded her daughters when they complained about the unfair treatment when they lost their tempers.
“My sons will grow up to be men, and someday they may be asked to die for the rest of us, the old, and the children. That is their fate. My daughters must be taught to appreciate what that means. So if I treat my sons with lenience, it is because I love them for what will be expected of them. My daughters d0o not have that fate.”
Translated: men are expendable to protect the community and they must be socially appreciated in that role,. This has not changed.
Refer to General Lane.
Next time I will review the character of Supergirl. For example, did you realize from in series evidence that Kara has claustopho0bia, has a sense of specieism and is a klptomaniac?

Spoiler, as in Stephanie Brown? Oh please do not write that the bozo show runners of Batwoman are going to ruin that character with their Ryan Wilder invention/perversion. Why not introduce Batcow and Damian and really pile the offal up as high as the Bell Tower?

Stargirl Panel Fandome 2.
https://youtu.be/3BLDjt6Rpyo
My comments.
a. Brec Bessinger has stage 1 diabetes (Celiac Disease). That makes what she does even more incredible, not less.
b. The casting for this show is outrageously good.
c. The quiz is back. Very unusual reveals. I did not know Anjelika had a thing for owls or that Amy Smart raised pet pigs.
d. Johns is a gentleman.
e. No reveals for season 2. Have to wait for Johns to invent the overarching story.
f. No Luke Wilson?
Flash Panel Fandome 2.
https://youtu.be/0VxeuznXj5k
My comments.
This panel had a recap of Season 6. I have to say I found this panel to be not that interesting, though I have more to write about it because there was more content to sift through.
First I took an immediate negative Q reaction to Chancellor Agard.. Whether that is because I just do not like the fake personality package he presents or because he does not know how to mask himself so that the negative Q does not come out, I cannot say, but my reaction was immediate.
Two new characters/actors.
Chester P. Runk/Brandon McKnight— Okay as a person. Slight positive Q. Character is strictly comedy deadweight. Get rid of the character as he has no series plotline or story function at all. Not even as the comedy relief that he is supposed to be.
Allegra Garcia/Kayla Compton— Negative Q. This character is a dead-weight. As an add odd character to Team Iris I do not get her. What is her function? Need to get story or plot usage. Maybe a character sacrifice episode? Then use the spent money saved on her salary for something important; like Flash’s gold boots?
I do not know why Carlos Valdez is on the panel. He did say Atlantis does not pay as well as being a character on Flash.
Eric Wallace (showrunner) explains his 6th season writing logic. By breaking the season in two and featuring two villain mini-arcs it seems he was trying to avert actor and viewer fatigue. My translation is that the crafty former author of DC’s Mister Terrific series immediately noticed that his first storyline with “Bloodwork” was full of the “this is not working” and decided to make a new storyline with Mirror Master. Whether the Eva/Mirror Master storyline and the still festering ruins of “Bloodwork” can be united in a satisfactory coda is not apparent to me. I am not anywhere as talented as Mister Wallace.
Candice Patten on her storyline was of necessity vague. She expects to be resentful and to finally get out of the mirror at some point. Shrug.
Danielle Nicolette’s role will expand in Season 7 as she discovers new powers and gets into trouble. Ho-hum.
Godspeed is back. UGH! I hated that storyline.
Joe’s storyline is based on the current world chaos. He will be Eric Wallace’s mouthpiece character as announced and as I expected for SJW commentary.
Team Citizen (Iris’ all-girl band crew)? I hated that development because it looks to me like a direct rip-off of V for Vendetta and I did not like that creation when it was trotted out as a comic bbook anarchist manifesto, either.
All in all, while the presentation was professional and the panelists tried despite Chancellor Agard to come across with positivity, I noticed fatigue and a lot of low energy passed through the monitor. It made a stark contrast to the Stargirl panel.
Notice not much Grant Gustin or Danielle Pannebaker? There was a good show reason for that. The two main leads on the panel are well known and Eric Wallace wanted to showcase his new and developing cast members up front and center to get their faces out there and known so that they would be accepted in the revamped Flash. See my above remarks. No sale American from this observer, because they do not cut the grain of what is needed to keep the show fresh and vital as Mister Wallace says he expects of them.
Not enough gravitas.
Don’t worry folks, I have not forgotten the kleptomaniacal, claustrophobic, and slightly bigoted Kara character study. it will be presented as soon as i watch some more Fandome 2 panels on playback and leave (sarcastic?) comments.

Titans Panel Fandome 2
https://youtu.be/nfXx578Sji8
Finagle’s Flustered fetlocks, this panel is a laugh riot!
–Greg Walker (Showrunner)
–Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson)
–Teagan Croft (Rachel Roth / Raven)
–Anna Diop (Kory Anders / Starfire)
–Ryan Potter (Garth Logan / Beast Boy)
–Alan Ritchson (Hank Hall / Hawk)
–Minka Kelly (Dawn Granger / Dove)
–Joshua Orpin (Conner Kent / Superboy II)
–Conor Leslie (Donna Troy / Wonder Girl)
–Curran Walters (Jason Todd / Robin)
–Damaras Lewis (Blackfire)
Shakes head. From bad lighting, to mangled writing, to gonzo special effects to flubbed lines delivered that made it into post-prod and escaped edits; and stunt work that looks like Community Theater R’ Us: if one wants Three Stooges unintended hilarity in a super-hero show, then Teen Titans is a must-see.
Fortunately, this cast gets it and does not take themselves too seriously and presents it as a fun romp in Marv Wolfman Demento-land as they should. I like Minka Kelly, Conor Leslie, and Anna Diop for their exuberance on panel and in cut-scenes for the show. I love the CGI dog. Curran Walters and Brenton Thwaites are thoroughly unlikeable on panel and in their cut-scenes, but that is alright. Robin and Nightwing are two of my least favorite Batgerbils, anyway. Good type-casting! Alan Ritchson and Joshua Orpin have great senses of humor. The one who was quietest was Ryan Potter and that surprised me.
Shoutout to the moderator. Good energy, got his intros out, did the segments as planned, stayed out of the way as the panel presenters did their canned presentations and did not intrude negatively, but presented himself as a positive presence to add to instead of detract from the sales pitch. Good job.

Black Lightning Panel Fandome 2
https://youtu.be/ZYUA57_GA0E
–Robert Townsend (Director / James Reed / Meteor Man)
–James Remar (Uncle Gambi)
–Jordan Calloway (Painkiller)
–Marvin Krondon Jones III (Tobias Whale)
–Christine Adams (Lynne Stewart)
–China Anne McClain (Jennifer Pierce / Lightning)
–Nafessa Williams Anissa Pierce / Thunder / Blackbird)
–Cress Williams (Jefferson Pierce / Black Lightning)
Ugh, another quiz format, this time 90s gameshow foofery.
Anyway, Christine Adams wins the game.
On to the Black Lightning panel and the takeaways. Who were the cast’s superhero inspirations? As expected; teachers, parents, grandparents, Diane Carol, Felicia Rashad??? (I am not making that up… chuckle.), Sidney Poitier (I am not making that up, either.) Pure cornball with the necessary dose of realistic necessity message to emphasize their difficult journeys to actually create a show this good as a beacon of light in the fractured dark and frankly anti-archetype industry in which they work. One has to remember that the industry in which they work actually has been very resistant to this pool of untapped talent because of bigotry. Yes, I wrote that… BIGOTRY. They, these cast members, and the showrunners, had to go out and carve their own beachhead and they are more than right to comment on their hard journey to do it.
Covid conundrums.
Reset button. And the social chaos situation. George Floyd ignition event. This segment is dominated by Christine Adams as she rather much dominates the entire panel. She is not afraid to speak to the truth as she sees it. If you are uncomfortable with what she says, it is the truth as she sees it, with the bark off. Should she platform like this, when her job is to sell the show? I cannot say. If I were the PR flake, I would squirm a bit, but if I were in the showrunner’s shoes, I would think her commentary is on show message to the target demographic and let it go. It will sell cornflakes.
China Anne McClain needs to get her head screwed on straight. Her conspiracy theory vibe is not rational. Cress Williams is cautious about his statement. Jordan Calloway has his comment which is a bit of “chickens come home to roost.” Maybe true (It is true.) but as a PR exercise, it was not well delivered. James Remar jumps in to retrieve that disaster. What a pro. He gets the diversion set, and then it is onto…
Show message.
One of the things about “Black Lightning” is that it is designed to be a topical metaphor for the “excluded experience”. More directly than any other CWverse show (Ugh, that term.) it addresses its target audience directly with on message “Superhero” plots aimed at their current real world experience to tag with them and hook them to the show so that sponsors can sell product. Never forget that I, Monty, look not only at the entertainment being presented, but I look at the products being pushed. See my commentary above for how this panel presents its show and what message they send to get viewers to tune in to their make-believe. It really is about selling cornflakes and pay-per-view.
Next season.
It will be a mess. But that is what this show has been as far as story and plot and character goes. The actors give their desires, which will never happen because that is not in the logical progression of arc with say the character, Lynne Stewart, who was on a drug addict death spiral when last we hooked in with her, needs to complete to deliver that message. Anyway, it was the most interesting panel so far and certainly indicates why “Black Lightning” in the now is probably the best of the Berlanti shows, but will not age well as it is too topical and meme referent to that now. In 10 years it will be out of date and not able to hold in residuals. That is the commercial danger with this type of show. It ages poorly.
It is a lesson Supergirl showrunners should learn.
Monty
I know Daryl, it’s sad to me. 🙂 I might watch if she was on! Ha. I also wish they’d explore changing time more instead of undoing everything each week but that’s me; I loved Snart’s plot in season one to save his sister and all that came from that. I wish they did at least two plots a season like that now.
“Black Lightening” is on at the same time usually as “This Is Us” so I’ll never see it as I’m committed to TIS. 🙂
Ha, yeah I meant Stephanie Brown Monty. Season two is going to be so crazy.
just watch black lightning on the cw app or streaming channel. that’s what i do when i can’t watch live
Legends of Tomorrow Panel DC Fandome 2
Chancellor Agard is back. UGH!
https://youtu.be/U3C1nTpX0q4
The panelists…
–Phil Klemmer (Show runner)
–Kito Shimizu (Show runner)
–Gtania Godfrey
In case you ever wonder why I stopped watching; these three people are the reason.
–Caity Lotz (Sarah Lance / White Canary)
–Nick Zanno (Nate Haywood / Historian)
–Kyla Ash (Zari Terrazi / Totem Wielder)
–Jes Macallen (Ava Sharpe)
–Matt Ryan (John Constantine)
–Amy Louise Pemberton (Gideon)
–Shayan Sobhian (Behrad Terazzi)
–Olivia Swan (Astra Logue)
This is a mess. I really dislike the show runners. The ensemble cast is fine now for what it is, but the changes made in Season 4 and 5 grated on my last nerve. The Kyla Ash segment on being the first “Muslim American” superhero (Kamala Khan (animated) beat you to it, lady.), is interesting in the presentation. I smell an AT and T mandate handed down there. Then she blows it completely. You know it when you see it. She names Ubah Mohammed as her special writer? He’s TERRIBLE. Consider him Derek Simon 3.0. He was hired to bring a PoV approach, and that is not why you should hire writers. The writers are there to create a story, not an agenda.
Dig that hole deep. It goes all in and I can see the PR flake tearing his hair out.
Kito Shimizu just tosses fuel into the hole as she takes responsibility for this specific fiasco. I wonder who will produce the match?
Did I ever tell you, that along with Swampy Thingy, I HATE John Constantine in whatever DC iteration or permutation with a passion? This is the John Constantine segment.
We get the “Stuck on TV” episode segment. To quote William Shatner after that one; “That was a horrible Jean Luc impersonation. What were you thinking?”
Marc Guggenheim directed the episode. Hope he kept his day job over at Flash.
The show runners try to explain ‘The Perils of Sarah Lance’ as a part of Season 6. No Sale American. Here is a horrible thought to improve the concept. Hire Derek Simon to write the Garbage Story ‘The Perils of Sarah Lance’ outline for that bad idea. It might be an actual comedy improvement to what they describe?
Are they teasing Jenny Hex? How does that tie in with the aliens’ storyline they plan?
Game quiz time. Ugh!
Boring.
All in all, 30 minutes I will never get back.

Superman and Lois Panel DC Fandome 2
https://youtu.be/FOuwXP4GOQ4
DC CCO Jim Lee moderates.
Panelists…
–Todd Helbing (show runner)
–Tyler Hoechlin (UGH!) (Clark Kent / Superman)
–Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane Kent)
–Todd Helbing has all the salesmanship of a pile of chocolate sludge.
This presentation does not work.
The tease and sell point is the return to small-town America because of “rustbelt reasons” and kid problems. This guy pitched that idea and sold it?
Jim Lee should have taken Dan Didio lessons. His Q is quite low.
What do you know, Elizabeth Tulloch can string three sentences together from this script. Why could she not do that on TV when she acts a role without a typical line flub?
Tyler Hoechlin is … Tyler Hoechlin. He is not Superman.
Draw the Superman Logo game. Jim Lee gives a quick art class. Let us see which of the three panelist is smarter than a 6 year old?
Helbing can think geometrically; but missed the fishy cues. Tulloch has no sense of proportion. Hoechlin flunked all the metrics: proportions, use of negative space, cues, visualization, etc.. Murphy, even Jim Lee screws it up and he is the pro.
Still… Nice comedy bit, there.
When did these people know about Superman? Tulloch, for her, claims it was the Christopher Reeve films. Hoechlin mumbles about it happened when he met Berlanti for the Supergirl gig.
I really am in sarcasm mode at this point. This sales pitch failed long before the art lesson.
Put Hoechlin in the suit, segment. Ah… that went over well… No; it did not. Elizabeth Tulloch is not helping with this segment.
“Is the way I’m doing it weird?” Hoechlin asks. Yes, Tyler Hoechlin, “epic fail” does come to my mind.

I’m drunk now. Let’s try DOOM PATROL! Yeah!
DC Doom Patrol Panel DC Fandome 2

Christian Holub of Entertainment Weekly is the moderator
The panelists…
–Jeremy Carver (Show runner)
–Chris Dingess (Show runner)
–Tamara Becher Wilkinson (Show runner)
–Timothy Dalton (Niles Caulder) Why does that name sound familiar?
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001096/
You have got to be kidding? James Bond is playing Niles Caulder?
–Matt Boomer (Larry Trainor / Negative Man)
–Joivan Wade (Vic Stone / Cyborg)
–April Bowlby (Rita Parr / Elasti-woman)
–Dianne Guerrero (Jane / Crazy Jane)
–Abigail Shapiro (Dorothy Spinner)
–Karen Obilom (Ronie Evers)
–Riley Shanahan (puppeteer / stunter) (Clint Steel / Robotman)
–Mathew Zuk (puppeteer / stunter) (Larry Trainor / Negative Man)
Boy; am I glad I’m drunk for this one. Acid trips might be like this panel. Timothy Dalton is like a laser through the monitor in how he outshines the rest of the panel. His Q (Bond pun intended.) is through the skylight.
April Bowlby is a distant second in the Q queue, (Why is it, when I’m off kilter that I can think of these ridiculous puns?) as she discusses imposter syndrome.
The puppeteer segment was boring. Not even any technical discussion to perk my interest. Just touchy feely nonsense about actor / stunter collaboration. I know that part. Tell me about the problems with the Robotman suit or the mummy wrap during practicals. Do not bore me with non-actor acting, which from the cut-takes, neither of you, two puppeteers, as I can plainly see is actually any good at.
I just noticed that Christopher Holub’s nose has nose hairs growing out of it.
Now they talk about the suits?
Nothing that I could not see. The Robotman suit is ergonomically terrible.
Cyborg / Ronie segment. Nope. NSA. Once again the PR man is banging his head into a door post. Sometimes I wonder if a little prep time for actors to make them aware of the Market and what they are supposed to do to sell the show should be mandated?.
Crazy Jane and Baby Doll? The two historical psychotic characters of Doom Patrol are supposed to have a normal sister connection? Art thou kidding, actors? Apparently the writers of this show have not done the character homework and passed on to the actors what Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premian intended when they created these characters.
Tamara Becher Wilkinson talks about the butt balloon episode. Just say no to this segment.
Chriss Dingess speaks about an episode he wrote almost incoherently. Just say no to this segment, too.
Mental health PSA.
Dianne Guerrero takes point on this segment. Really? This show makes fun of and exploits every mental illness cliché out there for gags and chuckles (witness the painting therapy and then the Rohrschach impression cliché in the cut scene provided.), and these people are trying to say that their work is educational in destigmatizing the issue? Just say no to this segment, as well.

I feel the “Batwoman” after show with Monty and Geoff will be better than the actual show. I know I’m being hard on the series but look at the choices they’re making! Ha. I do wish the actors well, but they should not have changed the lead and if they did just do a new show because trying to mesh the two things is not going work well I fear.

Panel…
–Caroline Dries (show runner) What is wrong with her? She looks “strange”.
–Sarah Schecter (show runner) Does not know how to present to the monitor. Instant dislike. THAT has never happened to me before!
–Rachel Skarsten (Beth / Alice) Very positive Q. I like her.
–Meagan Tandy (Sophie Moore) Good Q. Like her too.
–Camrus Johnson (Lucius Fox) Meh. No impact on monitor.
–Nicole Kang (Mary Hamilton) Ehhh. On show, she was zilch. Here I see why. Monitor presence is “flat”.
Hmm. Camrus Johnson leads off in the intro question about fan reactions, but mumbles his bit. Brief blurbs from several others which made no impression, then Meaghan Tandy speaks. Did I write good Q? Great Q. The incompetent show runners should have made HER the replacement Bat-gerbil. Story and show progression logic wise it fits.
Think about it.
Caroline Dries platitudes her way after Tandy and I wo0nder if she is even aware of her surroundings?
Sarah Schecter comes next and the hate just grows. It is unreasonable, but the negative Q just blazes forth.
Stayed true to the Bat family, Kane family and the Crows? WTM? Is Dries on drugs? This show dumped on Bat-gerbils in general and the CROWS were nothing like the Fascists R’ US in the comics. They were more like Sizemore gone amok.
Nicole Kang claims the show is grounded in family? Who wrote her PR packet? This is hilarious. She is glad Mom was written out and that the fans reacted positively to the death. Actually I thought the show runners / writers had dumped a good villain early and wasted huge story opportunities for future Kane family screw overs with that poor story choice, but with gonzo writers, what can one expect?
Alice’s evil laugh? Excuse me while I start a drinking game. One slug for every stupid bit inserted into this panel.
Meaghan talks about her relationships conflicts and how the fans reacted to her character. While Ms. Tandy stumbles through some of it, she comes across as “genuine” and not canned as she describes her reactions to fan expectations. I am really liking her ability to “sell” the show. She’s a natural. Know how someone will take control or dominate a space or a conversation? She has it. She also knows how to use that camera. Just look at her body language. Incredibly good body technique.
Luke and Mary ship? Torpedoes away. Sink that ship right now. Take a shot.
–Javicia Leslie (Ryan Riley / Batwoman 2.0) Take a shot.
What is this imperial “We” stuff? Take a shot. Quick presence assessment… She is SMALL. What is her height? 160 cm? (5 ft. 3 in.) Mass? 56 kg (123 and 1/2 pounds)… Not exactly a twig since that is 10 cm. and 2 kg (4 in. and 4.5 lbs.) difference in height and mass with Ruby Rose, but that is a big presence difference. Busy hands syndrome. Needs to stop that, right now.
First Black Batwoman? Okay. That actually tracks with DC history.
Mu-tai? Cut scenes of her sparring… She can kick hard and she knows how it actually works. Notice her sparring partner recoil as she lands her kicks on the target gloves. That helps. That helps a lot. There may be hope for this Bat-gerbil.
Her left middle was broken and it never healed properly. Take a shot.
The representation theme. She pushes it hard. When you have to push that theme instead of the show, there is a problem. Take a shot.
Reese Witherspoon was one of her heroes? That has got to be a PR bolo insert. Take a shot. Tap dance? Take a shot. Clunker drop-ins just keep coming. It is like the rest of DC Fandome 2, this panel. Someone in PR must be tone-deaf.
By now I am annoyed with Ms. Kang’s go-to “look at me” move which is to wave her hands in a parade float princess fashion when the segment is off her. Take a shot.
That is 9 shots. Better lay off before I lose the ability to type.
==============================================================
Has plants she names? Need to fact check it. Army pay clerk? (Note; check service record.) ???? Good. Mother served 2 tours in combat zones, as well. Army brat.
==============================================================
Season 2.
“Where is Kate?” storyline at least for the first episodes, maybe first season half. Sounds like we may be getting “Kate on the Island”.
The tidbits offered suggest that if a competent bunch of writers were trying this APPROACH, it “could” work.
Second bunch of cut scenes to show Javiscia Leslie doing “football drills” I now have a tire of known dimensions as a comparisons to gauge her physical size and ability. She is very small, and though physically fit for her size, that tire is almost too much for her. Upper body strength is a big question mark.
===========================================================
Bat-gerbil suit will have a different hair style. Might see different ears?
===========================================================
Wrap-up; what does Season 2 hold?
The panel finally coalesces to what they should have done from step 0. Sell the show. Tidbits about how Season 2 could fall out. Speculations and teases about relationship dope opera playouts. Yes I did write dope. I am not ‘that drunk’, yet.
Coda…
Dries still inspires complete lack of confidence. Schecter is still “negative vibes Moriarty” and the book on Javiscia Leslie is “maybe”.
Conclusion mine.
I was going to pass, this panel, but I decided to look in. Now I will give the show a fair chance to sell me. At least 5 episodes to demonstrate that they learned their lessons from the season 1 smashup. I will know VERY quickly if it gets the full Monty up or down.
Monty
“Nicole Kang claims the show is grounded in family?” – to be fair it WAS about family with the sisters, exs, and father-daughter dynamic between Jacob and the girls…you could even argue found family with Kate and Luke but now it’s about none of that because everything revolved around Kate and now we don’t have Kate.
“Luke and Mary ship?” – I’m still not surprised by it because the sidekick-sidekick match is a trope and they can’t pair either with Kate; that said I’m meh to it, I don’t hate it but it doesn’t excite me either.
Ryan Riley…are they sure this now? Name change on name change, sigh.
“First Black Batwoman?” – this should surprise no one as only Kate Kane has ever been Batwoman and this fan rage that she’s being replaced basically! Also I hope they don’t try and champion Ryan as the first minority Bat family member because that’s wrong if they do, the first minority Bat family member is Cassandra Cain as Batgirl. Be proud you have another black lead on a series fine, but don’t try and take credit that’s not yours; this is why I always say you have to mention Sara Lance when talking LGBT characters on the CW, she is the first and while Alex may be the second lead of her series and Anissa is a main for her series they might not be who they are without Sara so you have to give the credit where it’s due. As much as I’ve never seen “Smallville” and just like “Arrow” without them there would be no “CWverse” (sorry John). If they try to act like Ryan is the first Bat family minority that may just be the step too far that kills this series for me; again as is I’m very much close to walking away and really only care to see the first episode of season two to see how badly it’s going to be with the fallout.
Wow…seriously, a “Where’s X?!” plot? ? I don’t even know what to say anymore other than just let the actors go do something else because this is SO bad. Also the whole reason Kate got involved was because Bruce disappeared so why would Gotham trust any Bat suited person at this point?! They work for a bit and then leave. UGH! ???
I think at this point I have too much rage over the poor handling of everything so again I may do episode one just to see how it is but I will NEVER call this show “Batwoman” unless they change Ryan to Kate. This is now “Adventures In Gotham”.
Thanks for the panels Monty; I’m going to check out “Stargirl” later and MAYBE for Megan and Rachel I’ll check out “Adventures In Gotham” but it’s last on the list of video backlogs I have for the week.
i really don’t see the point of making kate’s disappearance some big season long mystery because even when it gets solved it certainly doesn’t mean that ruby is coming back. it’ll be like ok the mystery is solved but kate is still gone and not coming back
