Scarlet Cougar here! I wasn’t available to co-host Maid of Steel #24 last week, but I promised a comic recommendation. I’m a Cougar of my word, so I’m gonna give you TWO recommendations RIGHT. HERE.

The comixology links to all of the books will be included below for your convenience!

Metallo Lives on...

Metallo Lives on…

First, the Metallo story.

One of my favorite teams from the DC Universe is the Doom Patrol. I tend to enjoy the wacky Vertigo version the best, but I collected all the incarnations. Metallo had a run-in with them and Superman in a two-issue crossover.

There’s Doom Patrol #10

Superman’s enemy Metallo discovers Robotman’s supply of spare parts and he wants to stock up! Can Robotman and the Man of Steel stop the villain?

Followed by the conclusion in Superman #20

A strange new visitor, who bears a striking resemblance to a fallen heroine, arrives in Smallville. Meanwhile, the robotic menace known as Metallo is back and he’s in complete control of the Doom Patrol’s strongest member, Robotman.

If you like stuff like Preacher & Hellblazer, I highly suggest you check out the Vertigo version of Doom Patrol. It’s an amazingly crazytown series.

Maggie Sawyer: Cop, Badass, Groundbreaker.

Maggie Sawyer: Cop, Badass, Groundbreaker.

Now, for my second Maid of Steel oriented recommendation. I’m going to give you a little Maggie Sawyer so you can get to know her.

I’m going to recommend Batwoman Volume #1

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

As a part of the acclaimed DC Comics–The New 52 event of September 2011, Batwoman’s new series finally begins! The creative team of J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman launch the ongoing Batwoman series, as Batwoman (a.ka. Kate Kane) faces deadly new challenges in her war against Gotham City’s underworld-and new trials in her personal life.
Who or what is stealing children from the barrio, and for what vile purpose? Will Kate train her cousin, Bette Kane (a.k.a. Flamebird), as her new sidekick? How will she handle unsettling revelations about her father, Colonel Jacob Kane? And why is a certain government agency suddenly taking an interest in her? These are some of the questions that will be answered in this long-awaited series! This deluxe hardcover colllect issues 0-5 of Batwoman, part of the DC Comics–The New 52 event.

I love the Batwoman/Sawyer dynamic, and since we’re all Supergirl fans, this female-driven book is right up our allies.

So, there ya go, two (or three if you count Doom Patrol) books for you to read before we come back with another MoS episode this week!

Talk to you then!
