[sc:astop]In this week’s midseason finale of Arrow, Team Arrow faces one of the biggest villains yet: themselves. As the team tries to out a mole, the league of villains which has been plaguing the city also undergoes shocking changes, as what starts as a wedding celebration dissolves into a threat which could change everything.
This fall and spring Arrow (other than this week’s crossover) will be airing on a NEW night on Thursdays at 8pm ET. Our podcast episodes will be posted the following Saturday/Sunday, so we can accept email/voice feedback through Friday night – and maybe an early Saturday morning submission might make it in if you’re quick. 🙂

To me Oliver and John DEFINITELY owe Dinah an apology, Felicity as well could say sorry in my opinion because she knew it was spying to be spying not because Dinah needed help, but the boys especially owe her because with John she protected him with his arm thing – something which put the team in as much danger as Dinah talking to her ex which by the way Oliver let’s not forget you worked with Slade how many times even though he killed your mom and left Felicity and them to die on the island essentially; but back to John, I was very disappointed in him when he didn’t tell Oliver to at least calm down given all she did for him.
Dinah said the team saved her from the darkness but lets not forget they came looking for her, she didn’t seek them out and also she’s helped them illegally obtain evidence putting her future at risk so for Oliver to say he can’t trust her just makes me want to punch him in the face! As was pointed out in the podcast Oliver is suppose to have all this training to know when someone is lying so he should have noticed she was telling the truth or better yet asked the newbies to their face if they did it and then spy on the one who he feels lied and use that proof to catch them later saying he gave a chance to them and lied then. Oliver was just so annoying to me in this episode post wedding events; it just felt like such a huge step back for him.
Also annoying was Felicity to a degree because it felt like she agreed way to fast to the idea of spying on the team; I get she wants to keep Oliver out of jail but she more than anyone knows how lying is bad for the team as she’s called Oliver out over this countless times in the past so I would have liked to have seen more hesitation from her about spying on the team. She could have said “maybe this isn’t a good idea” or “we’ve all kept secrets from the team, just give them a chance to explain we owe them that” or something that shows the history she’s experienced. OTA just handled this all so poorly that they only have themselves to blame for the apologies they need to give mainly to Dinah and slightly to Curtis who had a point of they’re either part of the team or they aren’t; I understand there’s deeper connections with John and Felicity so on a one on one basis Oliver will side with them over the newbies because he doesn’t really know them nor has he gone out of his way to know them personally but on a strictly team level they’re either all equal or they’re not and if they’re not how can the newbies trust Oliver anymore than Oliver trust them?
I do respect Felicity admitted they might have screwed up beyond repair and didn’t make the situation worse when caught by the newbies but still I do think she also owes Dinah an apology.
In regards to Renee’s roguness, I wish Oliver had just said “I gave you another chance and you let me down” instead of “I’ve put up with your disobedience for too long” because we all know he has and he should have nipped that in the bud before now so while accurate as part of the reason to let Renee go again the way Oliver did it didn’t earn him any favors with me.
I miss Lance and Donna together!
I look forward to seeing why the evil team is working together because right now I don’t get why they’re in league; I know Black Siren said she owed Cayden for saving her on the island but why would Dragon or Vince want to work with them? Anatoli is a smart man so he recognizes he can use Cayden thus that current partnership but as a whole I don’t see why they would work together beyond sharing resources; wasn’t Vince after all hunting bad guys also just the season before? I’m going to call them team Heartbreak because I feel they’re going to put a hurting on our team in more than a physical sense.
I have to slightly disagree with you Flash, “Arrow” has been overall good this season but “Supergirl” has had a great season overall as well so I think she could take “Arrow”. 🙂
That is a very fair point Cammie about Renee and how the team was helping him get his daughter so it felt even worse that’s why he turned on them; the only thing I can think is maybe he felt the team wouldn’t succeed or he couldn’t risk them failing/he didn’t want to wait to get his daughter so that’s why he did it…it’s not a valid reason to betray your team who was helping you get her as they weren’t failing yet but it might be why he chose to do what he did when he did.
I’m okay if Renee doesn’t come back as long as they use Zoe for the reason because he wants to be with her thus it shows Oliver you can retire and be the family man if you want…I would have preferred they did the retirement plot with Laurel in S4 instead of killing her but that’s a debate all by itself. I don’t know how the series will end but I could take a retired Oliver after all this or a reduced hours Arrow to show that side of hero life; I know some fans will want him with the family out being just Arrow and they could go that route but I wouldn’t hate a somewhat retired Arrow either.
If Renee does leave might they replace him with a redeemed Vince? That could tapper down the double D vibes most are getting with the way they edit scenes featuring Dinah and John as well as giving them a redeemed villain who’s not Black Siren because just NO to redeeming her – as everyone said she’s too good to lose as a villain! This doesn’t mean he would have to stay redeemed, maybe he’s even more anti-hero than team members thus he could go rogue again for a recurring personal villain and we get a single Dinah who we need to know more on with all these engagements. Ha.
As far favorite villain on Team Heartbreak I’m going Black Siren even though she hadn’t done much yet because I agree with Flash Katie is killing it! I’d definitely have Anatoli on the list though as he’s always fun!
I might be the only one but I actually feel Evelyn was in the right during her time with the team – she had every right to question Oliver and some of the things she said were accurate so I hope she comes back and the boys admit she had points (her execution was poor siding with the bad guy but what she said about Oliver wasn’t completely wrong) and Dinah actually makes friends with her because she can understand Eve’s point especially after this. I’m pro Eve questioning Oliver.
HA, nice insert of a double D moment Cammie! That was very well done but no to damseling Dinah to make that plot happen; John just needs to apologize and the whole OTA needs to work on their status with Dinah versus her needing a rescue to make the reunion happen because that plays into relevancy. John didn’t need a full rescue from drugs, he helped himself some by turning away in the burning building, so Dinah doesn’t need a full rescue with Vince especially after she told him to step off. I will be HIGHLY upset if they damsel Dinah just to make a reunion happen.
Things I’d like to see in S6B – a solo Black Siren is my main choice because she’s good now but she’d be great I bet solo! Also more Dinah as you can never have enough. And Nyssa shows up alive; if LOT isn’t going to use her (insert angry face towards LEGENDS over this missing plot) then I might as well still enjoy her here.
I agree with Cammie on no making characters look less than just to have a plot happen; sadly I’m not holding my breath on this given previous writing but I hope they do great and just have the characters talk things out because that’s a lesson a lot of people could learn – communication is good and apologies are required and go a long way at times. If they reunite because they had to essentially you’re just leaving it open for this problem to come up again and that makes the plot feel like inorganic drama arguably.
I have so many questions about the break in at ARGUS, 1) how did Oliver making noise in the vents not set off an alarm? 2) how did the team not get checked even as janitors because that seems like a security breach area as well thus Lyla would check it. 3) how did an alarm not go off when John inserted the stick into the laptop? 4) am I the only one angry not seeing a baby Sara picture on Lyla’s desk? I know Barry screwed us over on that one but I’m still angry about it. 5) did the agent get fired for letting John in without obeying protocols? 6) how did no one spot Felicity on cameras messing with the control pad?
Felicity was Smoak-ing in her dress! 🙂
Hey now Nyssa could turn that watch into a lovely piece of jewelry I’m sure! Like Cammie said I get Oliver is like a son to Quentin but still he has people to give it to and comments like that make it seem he either forgot Sara exists or he’s not approving of who she might give it to and I don’t like that. Sara could use pieces of it to create a necklace for Nyssa with the theme of “no matter the time I’m always with you” because of the time traveling adventure she went on; see how easy it is to be romantic with them LOT and how you can do them without needing Katrina always on screen?! UGH where’s Harley’s breaking things sound effect when you need it?!
I see we’re back to the poor fight sequences for “Arrow”, ha (oh crossover fights with him you were so good), this week as again no bad guy shot at Oliver when given the chance!
Another great podcast episode!
I love this podcast! But I disagree with your rating. I’d give it a 6 or 5.5. The olicity stuff was just plain bad. Hopefully the horrible cringey stuff with them is done. I still want Oliver to end up with Laurel. I hope felicity dies at some point. Or they split & she leaves the show. But LOVED the 2nd half of the episode. Especially the Quentin/Laurel stuff. Brought tears to my eyes. I’m excited for their relationship to develop. Also excited to see this villain team. Seems like an adaption of The Longbow Hunters arc from the Green Arrow Comics. Also excited to see where Dinah, Curtis, & René go from here!
