In episode 17 of We Have To Go Back Podcast we take a look back at LOST season 2 episodes 9 and 10, “What Kate Did” and “The 23rd Psalm.” In “What Kate Did” we learn that she killed her father and the circumstances that lead up to her decision. We also see her being chased by the federal marshal, Edward Mars, the black horse that saved Kate, and the appearance of the black horse on the island. We discuss the information that we learned in Kate’s flashback, whether or not the horse was the man in black, and the love triangle between Kate, Jack, and Sawyer.
In “The 23rd Psalm” we get the first Eko flashback episode and learn that he wasn’t always the calm and reserved man that we’ve seen on the island. We learn about the horrible circumstance by which he became a drug lord, and how he ultimately caused the death of his brother, Yemi, who just happened to be one of the decomposed bodies in the Beechcraft airplane. We also talk about Charlie’s lies about the Virgin Mary statue and Eko’s confrontation with the smoke monster.
Next up: “The Hunting Party” and “Fire + Water.”

Hey Darryl and Kerry,
I have a few comments/observations from your last podcast “What Kate Did and The 23rd Psalm”.
Remember when you spoke about the Horse that Kate saw? I’m not sure this is the correct connection, but we do see a horse on the island in season 5, when the Losties travel back into the past. I recall Widmore riding a horse on occasions, I’m not sure if this is the same horse or even if it was black, but it sure explains why there is a horse on the island, even if the horse was MIB theory doesn’t hold.
The other comments I had was when Kerry observed that Yemi had hair. I think I have an explanation, it maybe far fetched, but it may explain why. Have you ever heard of the wivestale that says your fingernails keep growing even after you die. Maybe the same applies to hair, or the alternative is that Yemi survived the original crash, but was trapped in the plane, and all he can do is just live out the days until he died of hunger. I think both theories are plausible, we just won’t know.
Any way, keep up the great podcast. You friend from Australia JayJay.
