The long wait is over! Our review of season 6 of The Walking Dead and first look at season 7 is finally here! And not a moment too soon, as Fear the Walking Dead returns to finish off the second half of season 2, which we talked about briefly. But the main event is still the main show and that is what we spent most of our time talking about. There were Comic-Con trailers to review and highs and lows to discuss. For the most part, there were no major differences in our opinions of the strengths and weaknesses of The Walking Dead season 6, but at least one of us has felt the fires cool a little bit in anticipation of TWD season 7. However, I’m sure that will change once season 7 starts on October 23rd.

One of the topics we discussed that we both hope will improve is the inconsistency of the storytelling. It doesn’t seem like too much to ask to have every episode be amazing, amiright? While we understand that not everyone will like every episode, there is no excuse for lazy or sloppy writing. We as fans deserve better and should expect better from our beloved show. We hope that the showrunners and network execs have learned from what didn’t work and will do better in future seasons.

Only ten weeks (let the countdown begin!) until we find out the fate of one of our favorite characters, a topic we didn’t really touch on much this episode, but we would love to know what you think! Leave us your feedback and tell us who gets the ax…or bat, as it were. We also want to hear from those of you still sticking with Fear the Walking Dead about your thoughts on the first episode of season 2B. Did you like it? Will you continue to watch it? We are curious how many of you are still watching… We’ll have a Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through episode coming out later in the week, discussing S2E8’s “Grotesque”, though you’ll hear us several times say throughout the episode that we’re coming back next week (that’s because when we recorded this, THIS week WAS NEXT week).

In other news, there is a new and exciting event coming to my hometown area over Labor Day weekend! Geekinomicon will be here and GSM will be there to represent our geekiness! We will be podcasting live from the event, so if you want to get in on the action, let us know! We will be working on a way to Skype into our booth, and times that we will be talking about all things The Walking Dead will be announced soon!  Or, better yet, come to the event!  We want to get as many people to attend as we can so that we can get more events like this in GSM’s backyard.  We are also going to do a fundraiser for The National MS Society, a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of many hosts here at GSM. More details on this to follow as well.

As always, we would also appreciate your support of our efforts here at GSM, and if you want to do that, the easiest way is to use our Amazon affiliate link for all of your online shopping. I use the Amazing Affiliate Link extension in my Chrome browser so I won’t forget, which makes it even easier. Our affiliate ID is thefr08-20.
