12 Monkeys Season 4 Night 2 Discussion with Terry Matalas

The second trio of 12 Monkeys season 4 episodes lightens the mood as Team Splinter embarks on series of adventures in night 2, which includes 404 “Legacy,” 405 “After,” and 406 “Die Glocke.” The search for the weapon is on as the Witness seeks to turn Titan to its true purpose: the creation of the Red Forest.

Terry Matalas joins Mike and Cory for this discussion of night 2, and the 12 Monkeys showrunner has plenty to share about how these three episodes were conceived and executed. We speculate on Jennifer’s lack of primariness, Jones’ deteriorating health, Deacon’s true motives, Cole’s focus on the mission, Cassie’s worry about losing Cole, the emergence of Emma, and the wonderful return guest appearances from Jay Karnes, Christopher Lloyd, and Peter Outerbridge.

  1. Night 2 was AMAZING!!! This night really hammered home for me what people would be missing when the series ends; I was never really into the show but I have been intrigued since the SYFY S2 Jennifer solo promo but still this block of episodes really made me go “Wow; it will be a bummer when this ends” because it really feels like they aren’t holding back on this last season, as they shouldn’t, and it’s great! Again it felt like it’s own chapter to the story because every episode connected to the bell; I’m enjoying the format of these episodes for live viewing.

Once again Jennifer and Jones were my “ones to watch” in the block. I did enjoy the Deacon-Jones stuff at the end as well, but they’re really maximizing the Jones on her way out and I appreciate it!

“12 Monkeys” NPR – ha! Also yes, accents are great. 🙂

There’s still episodes to go so I really hope Deacon stays against Olivia.

It was great hearing Terry say secrets make good drama but you don’t want to keep going to that well because it does get frustrating as a fan to watch the characters repeat the same mistakes they have in the past yet hear showrunners suggest they’ve grown so thank you for that Terry.

I’m glad Jones was part of the third episode to this night because it wouldn’t have felt right without her given the languages.

I loved Jennifer getting onto the group about leaving her in France for years. 🙂

I’m definitely wondering if Jones will make it to the series final, each episode I’m sweating if she’ll make it to the next!

    E6 was definitely Jones’s episode!

I’m going to guess they’ll use the repaired vest to get back to the 1400s. I’m with Corey in that the key could be anything – a person or thing.

Night 3 sounds like the chapter where some characters get taken out, hopefully not Jennifer though, and we’re left with a handful of people to try and finish the final!
