The Future of and Ideas for Disney+ Content
Disney+ has been out for a few months now, so Blake and JJ are here this week to discuss the future and ideas for Disney+! After a small discussion on a special attraction that has recently opened and a new Disney+ exclusive series in the works, your hosts discuss the content that hasn’t yet appeared on Disney+ that has been personally noted by them, and what should be added to the service eventually. There is talk of how to expand on content already added to Disney+, concepts for future projects, and more discussed on this episode of Mouse House Weekly.
Ooh “Frozen 2″…this is a glorified music CD commercial because the plot was not good in my opinion. Speaking of disappointments, the Star Wars holiday special – hot garbage; it is worth seeing though just to see for yourself how had it truly is! I apologize I don’t remember which of you said it right now, but I agree that even the bad movies should go on there because they’re part of the catalogue as well which provides you with new content which you need for a service to justify the current pricing; as was said if there’s a derogatory reason to keep it off then ok but being rated 3 out of 10 or not making back your desired budget isn’t a reason not to put it in the logs, someone’s bad X-Men films might be someone else’s favorite Marvel series.
If they put ABC content on there you know “Grey’s Anatomy” is the first thing going up there. 🙂
The “Walt” concept sounds amazing! I definitely support this as a series; they can cover any bad reviews in part by saying it’s a take on his life not a biography so if a plot isn’t enjoyed they can write it off as an exaggeration even if it is true and move into another plot next season. Yeah do this one Disney+; sure we all know the swamp in Florida is going to get bought and become Disneyland so there’s no suspense there but the drama of being told no only to succeed – people love that. Now the big question host who pitched this, who are casting for Walt? Again sorry I didn’t memorize your names to your voice this episode to remember who exactly said what; also I propose we keep this to like 10 episodes a season for an easy day binge of a season and to try and get tight writing.
Is Ellen Page going to be Kitty Pryde again for that series because if so I’m in; ooh imagine them doing Days Of Future Past with her as the comics originally did! Speaking of X-Men solo things, maybe they could do a Dark Phoenix series and finally get that plot right because the movies have yet to really do it justice; a series allows for more time which that plot kind of demands.
Bonus content is always a bonus, ha; gag reels are always a hit and deleted scenes too so I’d include them first and then throw in a commentary track. You can do more than that of course but those should be the top three must haves for bonus content to things.
I feel this may be more for the parents than the kids today, but they could always do original content based on old DCom movies or even follow up movies based on them; what’s Andi up to from “Motocrossed”? What effect did the school have on Kelly in “Cadet Kelly” and is she dating Jennifer yet because come on everyone they would be a couple so fast if one was a guy in any other film! What are the kids’ lives like post the “Wizards Of Waverly Place” finale? They could even work it so the films are exclusive to Disney+ for a bit before going to air on Disney Channel; think of like PPV and how theater stuff goes there first before airing on other TV channels.
And of course this should go without saying but don’t be afraid to put the old content on there, somewhere someone is wanting to watch the original Herbie or “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, “Pete’s Dragon”, and “The Appledumpling Gang”; everything old is new still to someone whose never seen it!
