In episode 56 of TripleCast, Cory and Travis continue on the road to “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and discuss “Thor: The Dark World.” Thousands of years ago, a race of beings known as Dark Elves tried to return the universe to darkness by using a weapon known as the Aether. Warriors from Asgard stopped them but their leader Malekith escaped to wait for another opportunity, while the Asgardians hide the indestructible Aether. In the present day, Jane Foster has waited for Thor’s return for the past two years, but he has been trying to bring peace to the nine realms. Jane discovers an anomaly similar to the one that brought Thor to Earth and goes to investigate. There she finds a wormhole, and is sucked into it. Back on Asgard, Thor wishes to return to Earth but his father, Odin refuses to let him. Thor learns from Heimdall, who can see into all of the realms, that Jane disappeared. Thor then returns to Earth just as Jane reappears. However, when some policemen try to arrest her, an unknown energy repulses them. Thor then brings Jane to Asgard to find out what happened to her. When the energy is released again, they discover that when Jane disappeared, she crossed paths with the Aether and it entered her. Malekith, sensing that the time to strike has come, seeks out the Aether. He attacks Asgard and Thor’s mother Frigga is killed protecting Jane. Odin wants to keep Jane on Asgard so that Malekith will come, but Thor disagrees. So with his fellow warriors, he decides to take Jane away and enlists the aid of his brother, Loki. Together they battle Malekith in England and across multiple realms. Unfortunately, Loki uses the battle to cover his own mysterious plans.

“Thor: The Dark World” stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Rene Russo as Frigga, Christopher Eccleston as Malekith, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Zachary Levi as Fandral, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Stellan Skarsgard as Erik Selving and Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis.

Cory & Travis also talk about recent movie news and trailers for Self/Less, Tomorrowland and No Escape.
