Agents of SHIELD Season 5 Episode 15 Review: Rise and Shine
“Rise and Shine” was just what the second half of Agents of SHIELD season 5 needed: a boost of back story and a motivation for what comes next. Could we be seeing the start of a SHIELD-HYDRA alliance against a common enemy? And what will be the change that prevents the time loop from happening all over again?
Join us for show news, commentary and analysis for “Rise and Shine,” Faith’s CoulSass moments, and our listener feedback segment! This week we talk about Hale’s history with HYDRA, von Strucker’s connection with Carl Creel, Whitehall’s plans for Hale and Ruby, Daisy’s decisions as the interim leader, Simmons’ surprising embrace of the invulnerability concept, and Fitz’s not-so-surprising rejection of the idea of Deke as his grandson.

Young Hale was really good in her parts!
I would say Jemma isn’t going to die simply because of Fitzsimmons and the majority fan save that comes with that but if this is the final season anything could go and they might kill off some fan favorites just for weight; if there’s a chance Coulson could go out no one is fully safe and Jemma would be a dramatic point for Fitz and Daisy. Personally I’m going to keep hoping she makes it and divorces Fitz because they can work as friends but the romance just can’t withstand choices they’ve made but they’re still friends/co-grandparents light to Deke and if she’s pregnant they’re co-parents but that’s it because divorced yet civil co-parents is a thing because Jemma dying is just sad to think about!
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Deke and the timeline, is this branching and he stays or is it’s looping and he disappears/something creates a paradox?
I agree, I hope the Daisy-Fitz rift takes time to heal if it ever does because I could also take her never forgiving him even if they do work together on missions.
I vote “Calamari Mada Hari” for the CoulSass poll!
I don’t know why I’m surprised he did this as Mack has always thought more of Fitz than Jemma since he got on the show (see him faulting her for Fitz’s attitude in S2 without ever letting her explain her side) but still it annoyed me SO much!
They did cast a good young Sitwell also!
Good point by Taltos about the Crynocrons. Another great point regarding Hale not even listening to Coulson when she was the one who wanted to talk in the first place!
