The Sandbox Episode 79 – The Return Review
Who has time to confront all these new feelings when you’re trying to escape with your life? That question could apply to Ophelia as easily as Fitz or Elena or Coulson or anyone else in the latest Agents of SHIELD episode, The Return. Clearly, the show is pivoting towards a season finale that surprisingly involves Ghost Rider. How will it end, and what will they leave for season 5, now that a renewal has been assured?
Join us for show news, commentary and analysis for The Return, Faith’s CoulSass moments, and our listener feedback segment! This week we talk about Fitz’s mixed motivations, Simmons’ touching forgiveness, Elena’s rash but understandable decision, Talbot’s wonderful but contentious return, Coulson’s conflicted feelings, and much more.

“Did I try to kill you?” “Yeah….yeah that’s it.” – that was a cute but also frustrating moment as a shipper of them.
I agree with Dave, I feel for Ophelia/Aida in the sense she was used as a tool and that wasn’t fun but I also get them wanting to kill her/lock her up because she’s done some really bad things; it’d been one thing if she’d had a happier Framework going instead of evil Hydra world but she went to the harshest responses each time so I’m 35(understand her reasons for starting this path)/65(non self defense killing and enslaving are wrong) with her.
I find it kind of hard to feel sorry for Elena at the end of this episode, as Dave said you can understand why she went in but her being scared when she got there I’m kind of like “Eh” because Daisy told her multiple times that was not a place for Inhumans currently.
I vote for “Sweeney Todd” in the CoulSass Poll!
Aida/Ophelia is definitely a great villain regardless of gender, she’s Loki level crafty…he might be the only person I’d put ahead of her for Marvel villains. I’m definitely just going to put her at the top of AOS villains as she’s been epic! I’d DEFINITELY take more Mallory Jensen on the series but I’m not sure we’ll see her after this season as I can’t see the team letting Fitz build another LMD anytime soon.
I would miss YoYo but I agree with Taltos I could see Mack and Elena leaving by just staying plugged into the Framework; the question would be who would store them as we know the bodies need maintenance or they’ll die eventually from prolonged exposure.
Seeing Trip as Patriot? Yes please! 🙂 Bonus points if he and Ward banter over him in the suit!
Some blog post comments…
