I totally agree with you both regarding the MCU tie-ins; ideally, it would be AWESOME to see some show events effect the movies as the movies effect the show but that doesn’t seem like it’ll ever be an option. 🙁 AOS is in a very complex situation, as Dave said being a giant commercial/fill-in between films gives the series a better chance of survival but on the other again the “one way street” mentality for movies effecting the show but never the other way around is extremely disappointing and a lot of time has me wishing AOS was in it’s own universe like the DC shows because some of the shout-outs to movie events feel really forced in and can bring down otherwise awesome moments or entire episodes. Regarding the use of Ghost Rider in this episode, it’s another mixed feelings situation because I personally had never heard of Robbie Reyes but I know of the Ghost Rider mantle so it’s great to see AOS showcase a lesser known version but because they’re so tied to the movies part of me does ask why couldn’t we get Johnny Blaze for Ghost Rider; he’s certainly the one I thought they’d be dealing with, granted he wouldn’t look like Nicholas Cage but still, when I heard announcement of Ghost Rider coming and saw the icon in teasers.
Yes to more Piper but not so much Vasquez disappears! I’m certainly loving her on both shows. Personally, I wish we’d seen Ghost Rider already in flames or Robbie as himself in the openings because as someone who knew who it was watching promos or at least you could guess he might be a challenge for Daisy and that wouldn’t have diminished the tension when he showed up around Coulson and Mack but the drag out of his appearance to me was WAY too long and actually made me want to fast forward to his reveal; I like mysterious reveals but when you know the answer to the puzzle the build up can be frustrating and off putting at times. Daisy is attached to the hula girl her father gave her that Jemma risked her life to save from the burning plane in S2…Skimmons – just saying! 😀
The woman in the box has Scarlet Witch like abilities, but given Wanda is in the movies I doubt she is. I’m betting the brain mapping stuff Fitz and Simmons were working on in the opening will be used to enhance Ada and then HOPEFULLY we’ll get the debate of what happens if an LMD says no to being the decoy for someone one – what if they want their own lives…because some view them as machines is it okay to over write their feelings and make them preform the task set or will someone stand up for them and say that’s their choice because it’s just like brainwashing an agent to do something they don’t want to do…what if some chose to be bad instead of good? This could turn into a very interesting plot! Hopefully Jemma will get some new friends this season; I was hoping she’d have a lot of stuff with Radcliff this season without Fitz involved but I do love she’s in a high position agency wise so I’ll take her interacting with May because those scenes are awesome!
Down with the Fitzsimmons romance, up with the Fitzsimmons friendship! Fitz wasn’t that turned off by Ada’s body. Ha. I really hope they don’t make Ghost Rider an Inhuman, I’m honestly tired of the Inhuman stuff for awhile. Jemma also had to order May when she did so the Mayettes as Mike calls them would respect her authority because if she let’s May push her around then others might try and she could lose her position which would be bad for the group because I feel that position is going to pay off for them later in the season so they need her to stay!
I vote for “Hemingway” in the CoulSass poll although “Cut Off Your Own Hand” is good too.
Pills, bandages, kisses…whatever Daisy needs! 🙂 “I feel less than.” was a good comeback by May because she’s right – they just replaced numbers with colors so if you figure out the code you’ll still feel someone should be under you depending on your relationship with them the colors are just more distracting than easy to read numbers. I’m hoping Robbie is Ghost Rider because he made a deal to save Gabe and the guys he took out in this opening were just people he saw doing wrong and the Rider took them out…again I don’t want to see him as Inhuman, I’d rather this be a time they bring in the movies and have him make a deal like Johnny did. Oh Dave with the sign off. 🙂
Glad to hear the podcast back!
You questioned if Jemma would really report on May to the director, but didn’t she say because of the new lie detector she has to. This would explain why Fitz decides not to tell Jemma. Otherwise she would be forced to tell.
