Taltos’ Wilkes Source
I know, I am SO far behind on leaving comments for the “Agent Carter” episodes; I’m going to try to do a catch up here with you all.
I will say this hasn’t been my favorite season so far, yes there are good elements to it but it feels like something important is still missing from this season in my opinion. Maybe it’s the lack of humor without the set ups; it feels they’ve been doing humor more this season and doing way more set-ups for those jokes which actually takes some of the humor way from them in my opinion. Maybe it’s the inclusion of a triangle which doesn’t work for me; I like Wilkes, but we don’t see him enough past the first episode at times to really make Peggy’s love for him seem organic, I get like but love would require more time with him which we don’t always see, and Sousa lost major points for not calling Peggy back so I don’t buy that aspect. Maybe it’s the hollow set-up from AOS that leave me not as invested in the AC connective points; for example we see the answer to the “Agent Carter” pin question months in advance on “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” so that mystery is over before it even starts, it would be one thing if the mystery started on “Agent Carter” then was answered on the following “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” but doing it in reverse has lessen my intrigue for some the plots this season. Whatever it is it’s leaving me feeling just meh about season two and definitely loving season one more and more.
Anyways, on to the episode reviews…
The pen really looked like one of the Hydra symbol from season three so I’m surprised those aren’t linked. I look forward to hearing what Dave has to say in the later episodes about Hayley becoming the lead in another show, “Conviction”, and how he think that will affect the series; she could still do both depending on scheduling, but it was an interesting tidbit that came out recently.
Whitney Frost was a slow build but a good one, I don’t know who’s my favorite bad guy now her or Dottie; both are awesome and definitely highlights for me with the season. Ana is interesting, but I still miss Angie. The opening with Dottie in this first episode was great! I didn’t expect to see Dottie back so soon but that was another great fight between them. Regarding Wilkes in this episode, it looks like Wilkes is unknowingly working for Hydra, but where will he end up by season’s end – siding with Hydra for the science or helping S.H.I.E.L.D.? I say Hydra because again that pen really looked like the Hydra symbol from AOS. Again Sousa lost major points with me for not calling Peggy back; Rose was fun.
I have to say the only thing I was surprised at regarding Ana was I thought her accent would lean more towards a German accent because for some reason I thought she was a German citizen who had been kidnapped, but her accent sounded more Irish in places to me. She was still fun to finally see and I’m so glad they didn’t have her being jealous of Peggy. Again I still miss Angie though; maybe they’ll do more with Ana in the finale because she’s been really quite overall even with the extra screen time later in the season. I felt the detective as the bad guy was pretty predictable.
I’m definitely wondering when Peggy and Howard will start S.H.I.E.L.D.. The opening for the second episode was cute. Peggy falling in love quick seems to be a theme for her, first with Steve who she only knew for a while, then Sousa, and now Wilkes. I was 50/50 about premiere.
I agree with Taltos, Jack could have just sent Peggy to L.A. without lying to her, that was a weird bit. I definitely thought Zero Matter was part of the monolith at first.
