How cool that Agents of SHIELD was able to introduce a new character from the comics into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Skye is revealed to be Daisy (a.k.a. Quake) and her transformation comes to fruition in What They Become. Somehow the writers also managed to squeeze in growth for Fitz, a change in alliances for Ward and Agent 33, and the death of both a villain and someone more dear to us.
Join us for show news, episode analysis, our “Declassified” segment, and the “Sandbox Mailbox” for listener feedback! This week we talk about who Daisy Johnson and Cal Zabo are, who Raina may have become, and the changing relationships between some of our key characters.

So one episode in the future is going to be called “You’re a Daisy if you do.” right?
I agree with Dave, I thought Coulson would be a bit more upset about Skye being taken. I have to say, I kind of feel for Cal; Coulson took something very important from him, but at the same time I wonder how “Serra” would feel about him seeking revenge. Is that something she would approve of or not? Definitely mixed feelings on that scene.
I loved Skye shooting Ward; I’m glad she didn’t play “damsel in distress” number one and two that she didn’t instantly swoon for him just because he didn’t shoot down the Bus and brought her to her dad. As was said, yes he did those things but he’s also done too much along the way just to forgive as well. I know some fans argue that killing him is too strong but who’s to say had things gone smoothly Skye wouldn’t have told Coulson about the shooting and they re-locked him back up after saving him? True she probably aimed in the other aspect, but you can’t fault her for it too much if she wanted him dead; Ward is a dangerous guy after all so that might be the only way to stop him from his deeds.
The Cal-Coulson fight was awesome. I agree with Dave on the Skye-Raina future dynamic; not friends but associates in a way, like Bobbi with some of her associates. According to some comic fan reports, Raina is going to be cat related in powers but I’m unclear about looks. There’s two versions of her powers being discussed currently.
Biotic-Hartley! I have to be honest, I didn’t think they’d break out Skye and Raina as quick as they did; I thought they might just end on the cocoon and Trip in the dust and let people wonder what was going to happen to who so it was nice we got to see that. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how they handle Skye and her new powers, I’m going to continue to call her Skye, and how it affects her as a solo character and then how it affects the team. Hopefully it will raise the level of some bad guys on screen because you don’t want to see Skye becoming a complete tank and it being too easy for S.H.I.E.L.D. I kind of hope Skye shows resistance to her powers because she doesn’t want them to hurt anyone, Trip’s death having a large impact on her readiness to use them; maybe we’ll see her pulling back from the group at times in an effort not to hurt them, this allows the group to show her they aren’t scared of her and trust her with the new ability. I know she’ll eventually have to use them, but still be cautious. Also I hope they don’t forget about Skye’s other skills, such as her hacking ability, just because she has new powers. Hopefully she’ll keep her hacking skills too.
Great episode; I look forward to the new season.
