We’ve got different opinions among the characters.
In “A More Perfect Union”, the ever-creepy Samari-Kid tells Shaw that if they don’t let Samaritan run their lives, only death awaits. In “QSO”, we see how far the reach of Samaritan has gone. Next time you print something, be watchful. And the number of the week accepts the help of Team Machine, only to exercise his free will and try to get the word out about Samaritan, which works out about how you’d expect. And in “Reassortment”, we have the question; how much freedom and information about yourself are you prepared to give up in order to get security?
A very thought-provoking set of episodes, to say the least.

Root visiting Fusco at the hospital at the start of QSO? Flips the Lionel nickname around and back on him?

The Machine called my cochlear implant a few minutes ago and told me you guys were a “little light on content” this week. Try to beef-up the podcast a little.
Root just typie-typed a simple cryto-code over my PC speakers. She said Samaritan is near death trying to process the amount of data in the podcast this week.
I suspect the truth is somewhere in between. Good job and worth all 152 minutes of the monumental effort.. well… at least the parts where Darrell wasn’t talking.
I wonder if the ratings are low because people are planning on just binging it later when the series is finished; CBS is burning it off so fast it’s not like they’d have that long to wait so some are skipping episodes in favor of other shows they can’t catch up on as quickly binge wise? Because the series is over it’s not like they’re throwing a lot of promotion space at the series either so that’s not helping with viewers; if you don’t know someone who’s watching it you might not know when it’s on. And because it’s cancelled it’s not like some are rushing to support the show sadly as it won’t make a difference with CBS even if this was the highest rated season yet.

It’s just sad the series is ending so soon, but at least the writers are getting to end things kind of how they want instead of the season four finale being the unintended series final. That was a good episode, don’t get me wrong, but would it have been a satisfying series final? Not really.
While it’s not out of the realm of possibilities I don’t think I’d be satisfied as a viewer if they said the whole series had been a simulation.
I wish we had gotten to see Root actually performing some ballet moves. The radio show episode was arguably the best of the week. It would have been great to see the plan the writers had for Martine this season; I know Jon talked about wanting to do more with her, but they weren’t able to in the previous season. I can see John’s death setting Harold off or them threatening Grace. I think Lambert is dead.
I’d be okay with Fusco dying; no to Control killing Greer unless they build her up in the final episodes because it’ll feel unsatisfying overall if she just walks in and kills him. I want Root to live so much, but I can see her dying because she could live on through Machine in part. Good point about Warren’s voice being faked all episode.

Don’t forget that they started POI right before “May Sweeps” AND that they put it up ‘behind’ huge competition like The Voice and Dancing wt Stars. Mostly not directly against, but the shows POI were scheduled against were getting huge ‘bumps’ from their lead-ins.
Doug isn’t reporting “Same Day + 7” ratings either. That is where they roll-in all of the DVR viewings during the following week and weekend. I know lots of folks that catch-up on the weekend because they can’t stay-up to watch the last one hour slot of primetime CBS.
Plus it is nice to have a podcast ready to listen to just after you do watch POI on a lazy Saturday afternoon and have an hour (or TWO!) to kill in your leisure time.
I am also certain many die-hard fans of POI saw the compressed CBS/POI schedule, knew the show was retiring itself, remembered they already have the first FOUR Seasons on DVD, knew they were going to buy Season 5 when it comes out in a few months anyway – then simply differed their watching experience for a brief period. After all, they have already waited 9 months since POI failed to appear in Sept/October. A DVD watch/rewatch is a great way to spend an afternoon on a scorching and/or humid summer day.
Between school graduations, sports finales, new blockbuster movies in the theaters, many TV season finales and a few TV series finales, I can see why folks might wait on a POI binge-fest when CBS decided to pour a 55-gallon drum of POI on an already time-saturated viewing audience.
