Once again the world got together to explore the fantastic world of superheroes. This time the focus was the stories that will be coming to our televisions. I was very excited to celebrate with fans from all over the world who love these stories just like I do. The DC characters may have fantastical powers, but it is their personal stories that we see reflected in our own lives that keep us tuning in week after week. It was clear to me that DC wants to promote diversity and bring us some hope in these troubled times. The world needs heroes and DC Fandome was here to show us what is next for our favorites.
The new Superman and Lois show is set to show us a side of the Man of Steel we have never seen before. In this chapter of his life Clark is married to Lois and raising twin teenage sons. Prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths Clark had one son who was a baby last he saw him. I wonder if he knows these boys? Does he have any memories of their lives before this point?
Will Crisis on Infinite Earths have anything to do with the fact that Gotham needs a new hero because Kate Kane is gone? How will the characters returning to Batwoman’s second season interact? Kate was the glue in the story so I am interested to see the new structure as a new hero rises. Green Butterfly of course is also wondering how this will affect Batwoman and Supergirl collaborations. I really enjoyed the friendship Kate and Kara were building.
The Flash team is fractured with Iris still stuck in the mirror universe. I am very interested in Barry having to save the City using something other than speed. He is a scientist and it would be really cool so see him be a hero in another way. I am also excited we are going to have two strong women reporters on the CW schedule in 2021. Iris West Allen and Lois Lane changing the world with words.
A season of change is coming to the CW. Superman and Lois will have to balance family life and hero life. The Flash will have to live life out of the fast lane as he fights to get his wife back. If that is not enough super variety there is more. Our fearless Legendary Captain Lance has been abducted by aliens. The rest of the Legends will have to balance trying to find her while preserving the timeline. In Blue Valley Nebraska a new JSA will have to hone in their new super skills and come together as a team.
There are many super stories coming our way from the DC television universe in 2021. Please join Silver Vox and Green Butterfly as we discuss our favorite moments and yours from day two of DC Fandome.

Luke Wilson is doing reality show “Emergency Call” so he may have been doing prep work on it and could not appear. https://deadline.com/2020/09/abc-makes-emergency-call-with-luke-wilson-non-scripted-series-based-on-belgian-format-1234570146/
Re: last week – “Daryl: …because even when it gets solved it certainly doesn’t mean that Ruby is coming back.” – EXACTLY! Also say Kate does come back but it’s of course not Ruby, then you get the whole debate of what was the point of doing Ryan this time when you could have had a new Kate to start with like fans wanted?! There’s just no good coming from this.
Some blog post comments….
“It was clear to me that DC wants to promote diversity…” – I wish they would do more with physical diversity now that they’ve gotten racial and sexual diversity in ratio if you will. I do not personally have a physical difference but I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved the Felicity paralyzed plot in season four of “Arrow” and how much I hated when it ended so soon! I understand they did it because it’s cheaper and easier than having Emily always in the chair but even with the chip they could have done more because having her walking again so fast just felt like the change in her life was easy to overcome and problems could just be magiced away if you gave it a week and that’s not realistically the case. Heroes can, and do, have disabilities – both physically and mentally so that could be an inspiration for viewers with similar situations or just a showcase of how different doesn’t mean incapable. Also, let’s be real hero work is dangerous so it’s arguably more unrealistic a hero isn’t hurt than if they were; plots like this also provide organic drama for shows so it’s a win win really! Viewers who aren’t as able bodied as others get to see themselves represented and you get organic drama for a series! Diversity isn’t just a gender, race, orientation, or religious thing after all.
“In this chapter of his life Clark is married to Lois and raising twin teenage sons.” – if he now has twins again I ask why couldn’t one be a girl? Is there some unwritten rule Clark can’t have girls because he’s “too manly”? Superman can have a female child people. Is this them tempting more males to watch the network because men watch “Supergirl”. Is this this because they think someone will confuse her with Kara? Kara is older than even Clark really; I just don’t get the must have for two boys for him. I get doing tweens because it means no baby actors but still this is another where the more I hear about it the less I want to watch it and my desire to watch this series was pretty low already I’ll be honest.
“I wonder if he knows these boys? Does he have any memories of their lives before this point?” – Crisis makes no sense so why not.
“Will Crisis on Infinite Earths have anything to do with the fact that Gotham needs a new hero because Kate Kane is gone?” – nope! It’s just lazy writing and planning there. Kate survived Crisis so you can’t use that to fix the mess unless Barry screws up more between now and their start in which case can he please erase season five for us? It would be some mega good points towards him if so! I’m being negative I know but they bring it on themselves with choices that are just SO bad. 🙁
Look, I know the Huntress-Powergirl comic isn’t the best always but can we stop with calling anyone World’s Finest besides them? That is Kara’s buddy for those not Barry or Kate! 🙂
On to the podcast…
Welcome to Maid Of Steel where we talk about Star Wars now because it hurts less…sometimes”. Ha!
Bring on the “Supergirl”-“Stargirl” crossover episode! “Batwoman” sadly means nothing to us anymore; true they could try to push it, but I’m telling you now I’m buying Kara and Ryan are instant friends just to make a crossover episode happen.
We’re slowly but surely pulling Daryl into the after show. 😀
I love Alice and Mary too Justina but the fact is they’re just random people now to Ryan; unless they’re going to say Ryan is one of the many people Mary patched up in her illegal clinic, which with these lazy writing choices they’ll probably do, then they have no connection and Alice while great as a villain is also still random to her because the whole thing with Kate was the familial status and here nothing unless again they go lazy and say someone Ryan cared about died because of some Alice scheme from season one so that’s why she hates her. I am not a professional and this is what I come up just being lazy so their lazy as professionals should automatically be better than that – LIKE VOTING RECAST INSTEAD OF REBOOT!!! ?
A good moderator can really up your panel, see Dana Piccoli and how she has the highest rated panels each year at events she moderates for; as Monty says though a bad one however can really kill the excitement the cast brings or at the least hurt the overall experience.
If they’re going to bring in the movieverse the first one should be Wonder Woman! We had a Batman if you will in Kate Kane doing Batwoman and Bruce was mentioned many times on “Arrow”, we have Supergirl (*mumbles* and Superman), we have J’onn J’onzz, there’s Sara Lance who was the first Black Canary…we basically have the first run Justice League so if you’re going to mention anyone first it should be the Amazonian Princess! And yes “Supergirl” should mention her first and it should be J’onn talking about someone he knows because you can use that to explain when he’s not in episodes so much – he’s just at a JL meeting! 🙂
“Yeah and there was mention of Gal Godot.” – DON’T SCREW WITH MY EMOTIONS John!
I’m with Leslie, I get Melissa by being there but you have no excuse not to have the rest of the cast or even part of the cast there especially since Day 2 was delayed! Every other show had some kind of a show nod even if it was small so it’s like what’s up, ESPECIALLY since David and Nicole were already doing a panel for the program! It just feels like such an insult and I don’t like it.
“I worry about the commitment to “Supergirl” now that the CW has a Superman series.” – oh man Leslie I can’t begin to tell you how you hit the nail on the head for me with this fear! I have been fearing this since the announcement of Clark getting his own show and coupled with the fact ever since season two Kara has been written like him instead of herself I just fear the worst, there was as you say literally no reason not to have SOME presence at the Fandom events but we got nothing for her even though two stars were on another panel. It just feels again like such disrespect and I hate it! I’m not saying they will drop “Supergirl” for the Superman project but I worry every day for it because again they’ve been writing Kara like him for years instead of herself almost as if gearing up for him and this war we had Clark’s most known villain in Lex even though we have Luthors already and this guy named Maxwell Lord would could be a challenge, we don’t need Clark on “Supergirl”; I realize in season one because most may not have known Kara they used him at times but she has never needed him to succeed, get attention sure as even Oliver Queen pales in knowledge to people compared to Bruce Wayne, but Kara literally soared in season one because of who she is not who she’s related to…as I’ve said many times having Clark on this series is one of the worst things for this series!
Honestly, I don’t care that much about crossovers…if we skipped them this year that would be fine by me because there’s no reason to do anything with “Adventures In Gotham” now and “Stargirl” can wait another year, after the disaster that was season five we need to get our own house in order if you will before we go mixing with anyone else! Crossovers are fun but they should never be what your series relies on or the focus for the year.
Sorry Justina, but I just see no way the Superman series will enhance “Supergirl”; Clark is a loner so he character wise has no reason to work with Kara, he left her with the Danvers instead of working with her for decades so it’s not like he’s in a hurry to know her…he may have alien powers but he’s human where as she remembers what it’s like to be Kryptonian, they may share DNA and powers but they are literally two different people and stories. They only pushed him physically into the series because they finally got the rights to him not because he honestly brings anything to the series. I honestly struggle to see anything Superman brings to the plate for Kara beyond some attention because again yes she needs that as she’s not the most known super but once you know her like we got to do in season one she’s very much an interesting person who can headline her own show herself. Ugh I also fear some viewers will say or think Clark got the show on his own because Superman is “better” but really there would be no series for him without “Supergirl” which again wouldn’t have the numbers it did originally without Kara being her own person and UGH, again turning her into Clark was just such a poor move and it just makes me rage thinking about all of this because I feel Kara will not be given the respect she deserves and yeah I know season five was garbage but our season one was and still is the best season in my opinion and it’s such a shame every time to think of how they’ve moved away from that and for what?! To promote someone who doesn’t need another series; you can watch a million things with Clark in it but only two had Kara (the movie and the show). I miss Arrowverse when the lesser known characters got to shine; they love talking up “Arrow” and how amazing it was but do you really think there would be “Arrow” if they had access first to a Batman series? Maybe in being over dramatic but it just all makes me so angry! “Supergirl” is so good and the cast is good and I feel we’re going to possibly lose that just because someone got the big toy if you will. Yes true maybe this will cause them to refocus on Kara but sadly it could just as easily lead to more season fives and I REALLY don’t want that! This debate worries me so much.
I’m glad Pat is in the suit versus just controlling it!
I still say Caroline Dries is lying about a commitment to “Batwoman” because if she was committed she would be doing “Batwoman” not some show with some new character and calling it by the same name. Again every fan said recast because we understood what happened but what did she do reboot; the most annoying thing is she admitted to almost taking what fans wanted into consideration and then actively chose to do the opposite, that’s just crazy. That to me says you don’t respect the show as much as you say and the fact they’re going to leave Kate in play KNOWING Ruby isn’t coming back it’s just smack down after smack down after smack down towards fan cares with this series so why would anyone want to watch this beyond to watch the train wreck in flames when it blows up? I personally can’t trust her anymore.
Who wants to bet Barry gets his speed back when Iris comes back because love?
Of course “Flash” takes Crisis seriously, they were the only one who had investment in it honestly; Legends as you just said previously John is it’s own thing with no consequences to anything they do, “Arrow” only used it as a stage for Oliver to have a grand exit because Stephen was leaving that year, “Batwoman” couldn’t work it in because she had enough going to set up the series and “Supergirl” has no connection to it because we were on a different Earth completely so why would anyone else take it seriously? The other shows didn’t exist until after it and “Black Lightening” doesn’t get involved in crossovers really. Barry was prepared to die in Crisis before they have him a way to stay around of course so yeah it was always more his thing than anything just like Elseworlds was more about Barry and Oliver than anyone; the only actual crossovers we’ve had are Invasion and Earth-X.
Let Crisis go, unless it erases season five; get Lex off the show fast!
No to “Superman & Lois”-“Supergirl” crossovers because they’ll mainly be about him I feel as even if it’s about Kara they still write her like him so again – about him. Or if she’s her from season one again why does she suddenly need help you know and if it’s always her needing it not him outside of needing help with the kids how is that fair you know? Just no to them. Kate’s relationship with Kara is gone Justina…just like Kate. 🙁 Again I would love to see Courtney call Kara Powergirl in a “Stargirl”-“Supergirl” crossover to nod to that side of our character, it would work with Courtney being JSA in knowledge first; bonus points if she sees Alex in action (NOT IN A SUIT, POLO ONLY) and ask if she’s Huntress because again Huntress and Powergirl are the World’s Finest duo for Kara not her and everyone else they put her next to. 🙂
Christmas Day 2022 at this point John? Ha.
Potstickers is a fair pick for OTP for Kara. 🙂

At this point, I think the showrunners (Dries) panicked and settled on a fill-in and a hunt for Kate storyline and sold that idea rather than face up to the serious competency issues they should have faced. The fiasco should have been career enders for a whole host of people.
“Some blog post comments….”
Do I need to put on my thinking cap? Yes./
” “It was clear to me that DC wants to promote diversity…” – I wish they would do more with physical diversity now that they’ve gotten racial and sexual diversity in ratio if you will. One sarcastic comment about “diversity”; it is pretentious for DC to push what they call, “diversity”.
Diversity is more than filling in the proportions chart of so many types of people. It has to be organic. Look at ‘Black Lightning’. Is it pie chart diverse? No. It is organic. It looks at a community and it slants to the community it represents to mirror it. If it tried to “represent” as the other DC shows do, we would get Riverdale. Pablum.
” “In this chapter of his life Clark is married to Lois and raising twin teenage sons.” – if he now has twins again I ask why couldn’t one be a girl? It is Tyler Hoechlin Superman. The show runner (Helbing) has that epic fail (Refer to Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder for a similar disaster.) to solve before anyone should worry about the jock who is a wimp and the wimp who is the one with the powers whiffle fail that will be the fraternal twins problem. NSA here. Plus can someone teach Elizabeth Tulloch how to pronounce her Th’s?
” “I wonder if he knows these boys? Does he have any memories of their lives before this point?” – Crisis makes no sense so why not.”
Amend that to read, it is Tyler Hoechlin, so why not?
” “Will Crisis on Infinite Earths have anything to do with the fact that Gotham needs a new hero because Kate Kane is gone?” – nope! It’s just lazy writing and planning there. Barry screwing up actually works. OTOH Ms. Dries screwing up is a given, so who will be the next actor to walk or who will be hurt? Any bets? Any takers?
“Look, I know the Huntress-Powergirl comic isn’t the best always but can we stop with calling anyone World’s Finest besides them? That is Kara’s buddy for those not Barry or Kate! 🙂 ”
Actually… World’s Finest would be the Batman and the Superman; specifically of the silver age.
“On to the podcast…”
Yeah.
“Welcome to Maid Of Steel where we talk about Star Wars now because it hurts less…sometimes”. Ha!”
Actually after some of the knockdown dragouts I’ve had after ‘Solo’ and ‘The Fall of Skywalker’ and ‘Rookie One’ This is my “safe space”. You think I am sarcastic and mean here? Katherine Kennedy is spelled M>U>D with some of the people I tangle with and “Daisy” is spelled C>A>N>N>OT A>C<T."
"Bring on the “Supergirl”-“Stargirl” crossover episode! “Batwoman” sadly means nothing to us anymore; true they could try to push it, but I’m telling you now I’m buying Kara and Ryan are instant friends just to make a crossover episode happen."
The Supergirl Stargirl prototype for this episode is the JLU episode "Chaos at the Earth's Core"
https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Justice_League_Unlimited_(TV_Series)_Episode:_Chaos_at_the_Earth%27s_Core
it is a BITTER outing for Courtney and Kara. One learns to be less arrogant and the other learns to be more forgiving. Not exactly friends but definitely a character growth set-piece for both of them.
Ah; for the days when it was not about the fight or the message of the week, but about human beings coming to terms with what is demanded of us?
"We’re slowly but surely pulling Daryl into the after show. ?"
My winch is jammed. HELP!
"I love Alice and Mary too Justina but the fact is they’re just random people now to Ryan; unless they’re going to say Ryan is one of the many people Mary patched up in her illegal clinic, which with these lazy writing choices they’ll probably do, then they have no connection and Alice while great as a villain is also still random to her because the whole thing with Kate was the familial status and here nothing unless again they go lazy and say someone Ryan cared about died because of some Alice scheme from season one so that’s why she hates her. You know if I was writing the way out of this mess with Javiscia Leslie as the new lead, Alice would wind up in the Bat-gerbil suit and Ryan Wilder (Villain) would have to flip sides to stop "evil" Bat-gerbil.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irredeemable
Mark Waid would SUE!
"A good moderator can really up your panel, see Dana Piccoli and how she has the highest rated panels each year at events she moderates for; as Monty says though a bad one however can really kill the excitement the cast brings or at the least hurt the overall experience."
Chancellor Agard was a buzz-kill.
BTW I posted Titans, and Doom Patrol and I see they are now readable in case one missed it. I liked both panels for what they were. although I was seeing double by the time I started Doom Patrol.
Anyone watching that show should be drunk just to appreciate the unintended hilarity.
"If they’re going to bring in the movieverse the first one should be Wonder Woman! Ah… let me think about it. Do I want Derek Simon anywhere near a vehicle featuring Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins?
What do you think?
" “Yeah and there was mention of Gal Godot.” – DON’T SCREW WITH MY EMOTIONS John!"
Reiterated.
"I’m with Leslie, I get Melissa by being there but you have no excuse not to have the rest of the cast or even part of the cast there especially since Day 2 was delayed! It is almost as if they were hiding, Aaron, and did not want to face the music for season 5. Wonder why and from whom are they hiding?
" “I worry about the commitment to “Supergirl” now that the CW has a Superman series.” – oh man Leslie I can’t begin to tell you how you hit the nail on the head for me with this fear! Tyler Hoechlin is the kiss of death. I worry that Elizabeth Tulloch may learn how to act and we get the "Lois and Clark" effect instead. Hard to compete with a successful soap opera formula.
"Honestly, I don’t care that much about crossovers…if we skipped them this year that would be fine by me because there’s no reason to do anything with “Adventures In Gotham” now and “Stargirl” can wait another year, after the disaster that was season five we need to get our own house in order if you will before we go mixing with anyone else! Crossovers are fun but they should never be what your series relies on or the focus for the year."
Actually a Barry /Kara reset button episode to erase Season 5 and the Trash Flash Season 6 parts would be helpful. How about it was a dream caused by Gorilla Grodd?
"Sorry Justina, but I just see no way the Superman series will enhance “Supergirl”; Clark is a loner so he character wise has no reason to work with Kara, he left her with the Danvers instead of working with her for decades so it’s not like he’s in a hurry to know her…he may have alien powers but he’s human where as she remembers what it’s like to be Kryptonian, they may share DNA and powers but they are literally two different people and stories. Trust me, after the people see Tyler Hoerchlin, the "tiny" Superman, they will appreciate Melissa Benoist.
"I’m glad Pat is in the suit versus just controlling it!"
As a practical matter, teleoperation is safer for "Dad".
"I still say Caroline Dries is lying about a commitment to “Batwoman” because if she was committed she would be doing “Batwoman” not some show with some new character and calling it by the same name. The choice was made. Dries succeeds or fails by it. We shall see. Just let her not injure anyone else through her incompetent oversight. And get rid of Sarah Schecter. I think she could be a fundamental HR problem.
"Who wants to bet Barry gets his speed back when Iris comes back because love?"
If that happens, it will be because "Nash" did it.
"Of course “Flash” takes Crisis seriously, they were the only one who had investment in it honestly; Legends as you just said previously John is it’s own thing with no consequences to anything they do, “Arrow” only used it as a stage for Oliver to have a grand exit because Stephen was leaving that year, “Batwoman” couldn’t work it in because she had enough going to set up the series and “Supergirl” has no connection to it because we were on a different Earth completely so why would anyone else take it seriously? Blame Barry.
"Let Crisis go, unless it erases season five; get Lex off the show fast!"
Use Barry and the monkey (^^^). I already have a pitch ready for you.
"No to “Superman & Lois”-“Supergirl” crossovers because they’ll mainly be about him I feel as even if it’s about Kara they still write her like him so again – about him. Put Courtney and Kara in Skartaris and let them play with CGI dinosaurs and a Lord of the Rings kind of setup. And blame Barry and the monkey.
"Christmas Day 2022 at this point John? Ha."
We'll be on the moon before things go right, Aaron.
"Potstickers is a fair pick for OTP for Kara. :)"
Or the monkey, if Derek Simon is writing it.

Yeah. I saw some of this GalCon panel, before work interfered. Most interesting panel of the Supergirl panels I’ve seen this past 2 years. The Legion of Super Heroes live show pitch is exactly upon what I would pounce. Jesse Rath actually is a good idea generator.
I loved the pitch.
Now to be honest, that is about all of the panel I could catch, because work called.
