During the Crisis on Infinite Earths Lex helped the other heroes save the World. Lex is always a man looking for an opening. He is always looking for an opportunity to do things his way. The Multiverse has become one. Lex Luthor is now branded a hero. He is the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize. Lex the man of tomorrow who still can’t let go of yesterday.
Margot is dead. Will this shed any light on the mysterious organization she worked for? Lex is two steps ahead. Lex successfully links Margot with Amy Sapphire. Amy is the woman who blames Obsidian for her husband’s demise. Technology is painted as the villain and Leviathan can remain safely tucked in the shadows. This does not make Leviathan immune to Lex’s manipulations.
Miss Tesmacher is going to be a valuable pawn in this game. She has been working as a Leviathan assassin. Leviathan has killed her father and threatens the life of her mother. Lex promises to protect Miss Tesmacher’s mother. Miss Tessmacher is now on the Platinum Project at Obsidian. She can be Lex’s eyes and ears in Obsidian. Intelligence gathered from Obsidian will be the key to earning a place into Leviathan’s inner circle. If you want to take an organization down a good place to strike is on the inside.
Agent Dox heads to the tower with the solution our Super Friends are looking for. Myriad can change the Q waves so that J’onn can find the missing people. One problem is solved but the creature that just passed the window could threaten the entire solar system. How did the Sun Eater get out of the Fortress of Solitude? Lex needs something to cause panic to motivate people to enter virtual reality in mass amounts. A creature that eats the Sun should do the trick right?
The help we need now is truly not of this world. Thank goodness Malefic heard the distress via the Q waves and sent M’gann to help. The hydrogen weapons on her ship should be able to help against this star eating monster. In space J’onn loses his grip on the explosive device and is nearly hurled into the Sun. Supergirl arrives in the Lexosuit, explodes the hydrogen, and reduces the Sun Eater to a much more manageable size.
Lena is so angry when she realizes that Myriad is being used. Supergirl had told her it was too dangerous to leave the Fortress. Lena feels it is being used against her to interrupt the frequency she is using for Non Nocere. Myriad is being used because it was the only option to help find Leviathan victims, not to thwart Lena Luthor. Her brother is behind this as well of course. He doesn’t want his sister close to the Kryptonian. This should prevent Lena from going to game night anytime soon. Lex wants his sister on his side at least as long as it suits his purpose
Lillian Luthor is afraid her son is distracted. She warns him of repeating past mistakes. His obsession with taking down Kryptonians has killed him before. In this World he has a lot of power. This World views him as a hero. His mother does not want his judgement clouded by a vendetta, however as I said before Lex is set on doing this his way. He refuses to back down. He says that he must destroy Supergirl but he is a mortal man and many mortals have tried. When this is all over Lex Luthor hopes to transcend mortality. He wants to live forever. He wants to be a God. Can Supergirl withstand the wrath of a God? What will Lex do now that he has entered the Kryptonian sanctuary? Lena said Lex in the Fortress would be chaos and I fear she is right.

Some blog post comments…
I have to say I was hoping we’d see more on when Lex wrote in the book and how he got access to it in Crisis rather than how he’s influenced the season because we could have seen that in any episode( this episode made it seem like we’d get some answers involving Crisis yet nothing. Sadly I don’t think we’ll ever get all the plot holes from Crisis filled so if it’s never talked about again that’s ok with me. Sadly the same can be said for this season as there’s nothing really memorable about it; Andrea was good and her stuff makes me wish she had been in a more enjoyable season but aside from here there is nothing to be excited about during season five, it just feels like a wasted season and that may in part be due to Crisis and the reset it it set up with 5A being erased and thus half the season feeling pointless…it’s all just a bummer.
I picked Lena will side with herself by season end, WHICH DOES NOT MAKE HER A BAD GUY WRITERS; she’s not going to pick Lex because he’s crazy and she’s not evil and she has no reason to side with Kara when Kara keeps making her point for her with things like “if you act like a villain I will treat you like one” when Lena has been misguided sure but she’s not evil and UGH it’s so frustrating to see this garbage plot because season two Kara couldn’t champion Lena more and it was refreshing and new but no we have to have drama with a Luthor and Super so “battle for Lena’s soul” which is not even a plot they’re giving priority too to make it believable…the only smart thing Lena can do is pick herself.
On to the podcast…
I love John’s excitement at the start! 🙂
Happy birthday K Vox!!! ???
Not Disney+, but I recommend the Smithsonian Channel if you haven’t checked it out yet. Also “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” John!
Boo! Just ship Jon to the Superman show already because a year of Lex here is enough; nothing against Jon Cryer personally as he’s done a great job as the character but Lex is just too much Superman connected on “Supergirl”. I don’t care to watch Lex versus a Super for the millionth time, you know what I want to see – a Super and Luthor being friends and how does that work when Lex hates them or people are always telling Kara not to trust them because of their last name. Season two had that but now we’re just back into cliché storylines we’ve seen a billion times before with a Kryptonian. I get maybe having him in like two episodes to wrap stuff up because this season got cut short but after that get rid of Lex please, there are other villains for Kara to face besides him and villains who are smart also – remember Maxwell Lord?! If you have to recast him at this point fine but bring him back. You want an evil Luther we have Lillian on standby but there’s no need to rush her after this season. Remember Reign? Remember Livewire? How about a villain from the comics we haven’t seen yet?! Enough Lex.
Lol to “Q waves”; it gets more ridiculous the more they say it.
I have to disagree with you some Justina, I do agree that Lex will always serve himself first, but I disagree that he’ll toss Lena aside; she seems to be his Kryptonite for like of a better term be it because he’s trying to make her into another him for his legacy or what but I think he does care as much as he can for someone when it comes to her because otherwise as John said he would have edited her mind in Crisis to side more with him. He supposedly had that power but he didn’t use it. Speaking of that power, he can change destiny but he doesn’t turn people against Supergirl and Superman…why? You can literally eliminate your enemy as you see it if you just write Krypton never exploded, but he didn’t – can you imagine season 5B if they had played with that concept for even one episode as a VR simulation for someone. Yes it would mean no Melissa on screen but it’s not like they’re really doing a lot with Kara right now and her emotional stuff over being on Krypton again could have been interesting to see because even though they’ve played with it in previous seasons they’ve never really shown a full episode of it or the group without her. Heck if Lex really wanted to hurt Kara he could have split up the dynamic with Alex which NO FAN wants to see again but I’m just saying he could have done it so yeah missed opportunities plot wise and plot holes that will always be a part of Crisis and can we just act like that never happened? We’ll pretend Oliver died in some other heroic way saving the team so that can hold up but honestly Crisis doesn’t mean anything to the shows not named “Flash” because it more happened to us instead of in part because of us like Barry felt he had to be involved with it because of supposed future newspaper articles. I know that doesn’t all link to Lena’s hold on Lex but yeah everything else has been hodgepodged this season so why not this comment. Ha.
I agree Daryl, if the sisters never find out the truth about Jeremiah having Eve kill him is pointless as a reveal. They did say they would edit the Lexosuit so I assume that means taking out the Kryptonite but still Kara has a suit Lena built for her – where is that? She shouldn’t need the Lexosuit.
There’s no battle for Lena’s soul, they’ve done jack to make that feel like an honest plot; Lena is the same person now that she was in seasons before she’s just more angry at Kara right now understandably. If they wanted it to feel like a battle they should have had more of a back and forth with Lena in terms of where she stands on things because it’s what she wants not because she’s mad at one side or not but they’ve done nothing so honestly it feels like a hype plot that never got paid off. And honestly they can just drop this too because Lena is not evil so even if they did a good plot for the battle is anyone really going to buy it in the end?
I’ll be honest right now, I’m going to judge episodes 18 and 19 just as hard as I would any episode, yes you give them some leeway because of the shorten season but bad plots and lackluster writing is still bad plots and lackluster writing. They may be good episodes but sadly I’m not holding my breath based on what we’ve seen so far.
William = Extremely Boring. Also #TeamSpaceDadEarthMom aka J’onn/Eliza! 🙂 I know people like J’onn and M’gann but I’m telling you J’onn/Eliza is adorable also. 🙂
I will say I loved Lex calling Jeremiah Kara’s dad because he is just as much as he’s Alex’s father.
No the way to Kara’s heart is potstickers. 🙂
I agree Leslie, I’m beyond over Lex on the show also!
I’m SO excited to hear the podcast will continue with new content during the break!!! 😀

And now for “The Missing Link”
Hello Maid of Steel Podcasters; Buckaroo Banzai Monty here after binge watching “The Boys” and the previous episode of Batwoman before being bemused by this Barnfoggle bloviathon of a Supergirl episode.
1, I want to mention that over at Batwoman, it seems that Alice has a need to find kryptonite to kill Batgerbil, her sister. I have no idea where that leads, but I suspect a season 6 plot grenade is in there somewhere for Supergoyl.
2, I want to mention, don’t show me Alex with her Martian Police 38 Special and then not show her using it when she is being shot at by a Leviathan numb-chuck using a mere gun.
3, quit calling back actors ((Sean Astin) who SUCKED (the nerd guy who played Malefic way back when) on their first outing on this show.
4, do not let Jesse Rath try to act dramatically EVER.
5, putting a bag over Blockhead’s blockhead; was a missed opportunity and scene to off the character and improve the series by 600%.
6. Pronoun sequencing and trouble; me and this guy” instead of “this guy and I” grates on my last bleeping nerve. The script is illiterate enough without following the rule of duos when compound subject or object in a sentence. You as the speaker always follow your fellow when using the syntax.
7. Rama Khan’t shamalangadingdong cannot act. Use him sparingly when and if you use the comedy relief stiff at all.
8. Miss Martian and the BUM? Miss Martian, you can do better.
9. They do not have to keep Seattle weird on this show. The show is weird enough.
10. Leviathan as a plot device is bloviated.
bloviate
[ˈblōvēˌāt]
VERB
bloviated (past tense) · bloviated (past participle)
talk at length, especially in an inflated or empty way.
In summary, I am not happy with the direction (Avi Youabian), writing (Dana Horthan and J. Horthan) or bad acting by:
-Sean Astin- the epitome of second rate community theater hires for this series
-Julie Gonzalo-stiff and read her lines only to collect the paycheck.
-David Harewood-histrionics; totally out of training and expectation for him
-Staz Nair-dull and without any projection at all, like he knows he is hated and WHY.
– Jesse Rath-shouting like he was the second chorus boy in a bad Vancouver production of HMS Pinafor or otherwise occupying space as a human prop-sicle, just there to cold frame the camera and suck the life out of the scenes with Nicole Maines
– Azie Tesfai-reading up her lines as if she did not know what her motivation was at any given moment.
Rate it… 0/0/0 out of 5/5/5
Now I will go back to back to Garth Enris, check out Hughie and Annie and to see if Homelander finally gets to eat the weenie like Translucent did, way back when.
