In episode 0 of Gotham Undercover, we offer a preview of the first season of Gotham. There is a lot of buzz about the series, and a ton of interest in seeing some of the Gotham villains backstories played out on screen.
We discuss the Fox teaser preview “Legends Reborn”
Since the show will introduce a large cast of characters we briefly talk about them.

Officer Renee Montoya was also in the classic Batman The Animated Series too. I had a couple year run of reading Batman, Batman & Robin (Dick & Damian), Nightwing post the death of Batman and until after he returned. Enjoyed the Nolan films but hey I saw all the Tim Burton ones too. Looking forward to the series.
xforce11 – Thanks for taking the time to stop by and offer that great information! Sounds like you are very well versed in the character universe! We’re hoping the series is embraced by both Batman purists as well as accessible enough to pick up some new fans.
Which of the villain back stories are you most interested in seeing on “Gotham?”
Yes, I remember her from that series! Also, she was a main character on the Gotham Central graphic novel series — which is similar to this in that it focused on the GCPD and their stories and struggles, rather than Batman himself.
In that, btw, she was a lesbian so I’m guessing that was very much what the show was implying since it’s the same character.
Also, wasn’t she the same character portrayed in Batman Begins who turned out to be dirty?
I really enjoyed your podcast and enjoyed your guys’ take on the show. Although I do enjoy Batman in his various forms, the thing that I actually enjoy most about the show has basically nothing to do with Bruce Wayne — it’s the Noir cop drama that’s unfolding and the sort of “L.A. Confidential” tone it’s going for.
One note is that Bullock wasn’t taking care of Oswald at the behest of Fish. He was testing Gordon — and eliminating Cobblepot — on the orders of Carmine Falcone, who had overruled Fish’s desire to kill them (and killed several of her men in the process). Also, based on the dialogue I don’t think Bullock saying he would ‘try’ to kill him was general fear, but a very specific set of orders and consequences from Falcone. That Gordon was to kill Penguin to prove he was part of the “program”, and if he didn’t, Bullock was to kill both Gordon and Oswald.
I will say Donald Logue’s Harvey Bullock was my favorite feature of the show. He’s been great in almost everything I’ve seen him in (like Blade) as a sort of ‘affable scumbag’. And in fact, that last scene between the two partners on the docks was what totally sold me on a show I had already been enjoying.
Keep up the good work!
