Central City Underground Flash Podcast
The Flash, Season 3, Episode 19: The Once and Future Flash
Some thoughts from Joe:
HR Gives Us the Jitters
Welcome back, all! After a long, long month, the Flash is back with a bang! Villainous pals, surprise revelations, and…oh look!…time travel! Man, if they keep this up, I’ll actually forget what year the show is supposed to take place in!
So 2024 is not the paradise one might hope it would be. No flying cars, no world peace, no visitation from aliens. Wait…we actually had visitation from aliens in 2017, and at least it resulted in a super-hero team-up! Read more…
Thoughts from Joe….
He’s a Magic Man
Oh, I’m a happy camper. One of my favorite members of the Rogues Gallery has finally made his long-overdue appearance. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadies and gentlemen, put your hands together for…Abra Kadabra!!
Some thoughts from Joe on The Flash, Season 3, Episode 17: Duet
A Song in Your Heart
And so, I make a confession. One I rarely admit to, but is true all the same.
My first two years in college, I was in the…musical theatre department.
It’s true. There’s a reason I keep bursting into songs in these podcasts. I’m an old song-n-dance man. So as you can guess, this episode hit all the right notes for me. But to give us some context, I wanted to give us all a little info on the songs that appeared in this week’s episode…
As Michiganders, Tony and I have to occasionally deal with the fact that winter can be an utter beast. This past week, we (like hundreds of thousands of MI homes) lost power. Not for a few minutes, not for a few hours, but for a few days. As such, the podcast had to become TWO podcasts in one, you lucky ducks! Read more…
Sometimes you go to Planet of the Apes. Sometimes Planet of the Apes comes to you.
I imagine it’ll come as no surprise when I say how much I dug this episode. Of Grodd, Barry said “He’s evolving.” Dang right he is. More than any episode to date, we’re finally seeing Grodd go from being a sympathetic, tortured beast to a ruthless conqueror. Conqueror Grodd is my favorite Grodd, the Grodd of the comics, who looks down on humans as moronic neanderthals in no way equal to his mighty Apeness.
We got to see it….to REALLY see it. Sure, we had a brief glimpse last season, but this time, we got to see Gorilla City in all it’s primeval glory! Those familiar w/ the comics know that this secret society of super-apes is a staple of the DCU. Sure, the comic version had an outer-space aspect, and was surrounded by a cloaking field keeping it hidden from puny humans, but the real selling point was always the apes.
The Flash, Season 3, Episode 2: Untouchable
With so many thoughts of murder floating about The Flash right now, it’s hardly surprising that this week’s baddie could literally kill w/ a touch. Death is coming to Central City, and no, I don’t mean the Black Flash. The prophecy of Savitar says that one will fall…but who is that one? Harder and harder to say.
The Flash, Season 3, Episode 11: Dead or Alive
The Gypsy Road Can’t Take Wells Home
Wells, Wells, Wells! Looks like another classic DC mainstay has entered into the Flarrowverse! Ladies and gentlemen, we present…Cindy Reynolds aka Gypsy! But boy oh boy, this version of Gypsy is quite a bit different than the comic book version. So what’s the comic book version like, you ask? Old Man Zettelmaier’s here to tell you aaaallll about her!
BORROWING PROBLEMS FROM THE FUTURE
The Flash is back! After a long hiatus, we get the 10th episode of season 3, and it’s a ton of fun. Be honest: Who wants to live in Iris and Barry’s new apartment? (If you guessed Tony and Joe, you’re right.) Speaking of Joe – here are some thoughts from him…. Read more…
Well, we have to wait 6 more weeks for another episode, but The Flash left us with a good one! The Present had some fun reveals, a few head-scratcher moments and at least one terrifying look into the future. Tony and Joe and the CCU Undergrounders discuss it in this SUPERSIZED podcast, designed to last you until we get another episode! Here are some thoughts from Joe: Read more…
