Case Profile for Susan Blommaert

As the second half of the fourth season’s big bad, Susan Blommaert’s Mr. Kaplan sought out justice against Red to expose him once and for all and reveal the truth to Elizabeth. If there is anyone that knows about justice, it is Susan Blommaert.

Born and raised in Chicago, Susan got her acting chops starting out in the theater. She attended an acting school in Chicago before making her way to New York. As she continued to pursue theater, she looked for ways to get a stable income and turned to television. This meant at the time a role on Law and Order, since it was the only television show filming in New York. Playing a Judge on the series before moving to another judgeship on The Practice, Susan learned the art of developing a recurring character into one that became a fan favorite.

Enter The Blacklist. Susan talks about her audition, and the amazing surprise that came out of it. The ability to work once again with former colleagues Harry Lennix and Amir Arison, as well as new relationships such as Megan Boone and James Spader. Susan has worked with many great actors throughout her years and is appreciative of every moment she was able to spend, act, and learn from them.

It was a year of firsts for Susan. She held a gun for the first time in her career, she went to her first comic convention and fan panel, and was kind enough to come on this podcast, her first to talk to all of you the fans. So sit back dearies and take it all in for Mr. Kaplan’s farewell discussion…maybe.
