Case Profile for Mr. Kaplan
It has all come down to this! Mr. Kaplan puts a plan in motion to expose the task force by releasing the immunity deal that Red signed so many seasons ago to a grand jury investigation. In exchange for her testimony and the document she will receive immunity and win this war with her former employer. But as luck would have it Red is always once step ahead and we uncover the final mysteries in the Reven Wright case, which is enough to blackmail Laurel Hitchens and prevent the grand jury from proceeding. This doesn’t sit well with Ressler however as he doesn’t get the justice Reven deserves and in an altercation with Hitchens accidentally kills her. What happens next is the most shocking event of the finale. Elsewhere Cooper decides to dig up the past in order to uncover DNA from Raymond Reddington on an old shirt from before he disappeared in 1990 in order to prove once and for all that Raymond Reddington is indeed Liz’s father. But but but, this is DNA from before 1990 so the new mystery on the board that we now have to solve is are we looking at the REAL Raymond Reddington or an imposter. Kaplan’s ultimate secret lies in a suitcase left for Liz at bus station, picked up by Tom Keen, which has the bones of… well you will have to listen to this season finale podcast to find out who we think it is.

The Music of Mr. Kaplan
Fever from the “The Black Keys” plays as Red and Dembe frantically try to get the crumbling empire situation under control. As Liz and Samar chase down the messenger we hear Battle Tape’s “Belgrade”. Lou Reed’s “Vicious” plays over Red burning all his Aliases in the motel trash can. As Kaplan commits the ultimate sacrifice we hear “Drowning” by Kevin Morby. Finally to close out the episode, “Bloodstream” by Stateless plays as Liz confronts Red about being her father and what it means to be family.
You can hear these songs via the official Blacklist playlist on Spotify or the same playlist recreated by us on Apple Music.

One of the better cliff-hanger season finales in the past decade+, right behind FRINGE Season 3 and LOST Season 2. But it made me kinda of ‘cliff-hangry’.
The whole Aram/Samar daliance was unattractive, the Grand Jury rabbit hole wasn’t worth going down, and the evil beyotch death by head bump was too Soap Opera-ie.
However, it was good to see Red in full combat mode, Elizabeth inhale her familial heritage, proudly, and to see Ressler get a larger slice of the big picture as he now goes under the thumb of his own ‘cleaner’.
I was 50-50 on the Kaplan live/die issue but am now glad that she is gone. Nobody shoots Baz! Bad Kate! Bad!
Please stop saying the alchemist could change DNA. This is from the script for the show:
“Liz: How did you identify her?
Aram: The Alchemist knew that, based on a forensic procedure, we wouldn’t run tests necessary to distinguish between synthesized and natural DNA. Now that we know what we’re looking for, we pulled the bone–marrow sample, ran it against our database. Jenkins was single, lived alone, but I did find this. Last time she was online was over 72 hours ago. She visited this dating website, which is also where I met Phyllis Tugenberg and her cankles.”

What I didn’t understand about one of the plot points was Kate going after the task force and wanting to get the document that proves Raymond’s working with the task force and yet wanted to protect Liz. But didn’t she realize if she took Red and the task force down that Liz, whom she was soo worried about protecting…would of ended up in prison along with her colleagues. Which would of left Agnes to be put in a foster home and ending up in the same predicament as Liz when she was young. Without her parents.
And that’s why I’ve been with team Red from the beginning of the feud. Kate, is blinded by sheer revenge and tried to take anyone down who stood in her way, which if it weren’t for Red and the task force stopping her, that’s what would have happened. Red would be dead and the task force would of ended up in prison. I liked Kate’s character in the beginning but, she later turned into something I no longer recognized.
Please suggest JB that Elizabeth phone back the lab in montreal to get her DNA results and confirm it with Cooper’s… to definitely rule out the impostor theory … Contract labs usually keep DNA results for 10 years per their archiving policy. I know, we lost ours (investigtaing a sibbling issue) and phoned back the labs a year after and they re-sent the pdf. so the two results could be compared.
the only thing that we are sure now is the man who had that shirt on him is Elizabeth’s father and that her dad was not Constantine…
I honestly haven’t saw this series but I would love to try it for it looks interesting!
