[sc:astop]Martin “The Flash” and Cammien Ray discuss all the highs and lows of this week’s episode of Arrow, as all the dream teams form: Oliver is fighting with and alongside Talia, Curtis is undercover on a mission with Diggle, and ladies of and around Team Arrow have united as “Team Felicity” to solve the prison corruption crisis. Meanwhile, somewhere in the background, Dragon is building a dream team of his own. Join our discussion!
This season Arrow will be airing on Mondays at 8pm ET. Our podcast episodes will be posted the following Wednesday, so we can accept email/voice feedback through Tuesday afternoon – and maybe an early Tuesday evening submission might make it in if you’re quick. 🙂

Starting with the important message of every week: KEEP BLACK SIREN EVIL!!!
“We’re dealing with empathy here Dinah.” “Pretty sure that’s not it.” also lol to Dinah telling Black Siren to go back to Earth 2 because they all hate her. 🙂
Now on to the rest of the podcast…
If you like Lexa Doig Flash you should see her in “Continuum” – she was awesome in that also!
“I’ve got eyes and those are some gorgeous human beings there.” – thirded! 🙂
I have to say on the whole “Arrow” this season pretty good and possibly ahead of “Supergirl” so far BUT that said as a whole series “Supergirl” continues to be the best superhero show on the network to me out of the ones I watch so I hope both get renewed. Fair warning I will pick “Supergirl” if I can only have one because I feel she deserves to run as long as “Arrow” at the very least based on the quality of the whole series. S2 was our (Supergirl) roughest season but still it wasn’t the worst season of a CW superhero show ever (looking at you S1 of Legends and the back half of S4 of Arrow).
Bring on the respectful discussions!!! 🙂
Oh how I wish Talia meant Huntress in that line about running into an old friend in Gotham because it would be such a nod to that dynamic from the comics but she probably just means Batman because they also have history and “Arrow” does love nodding to the Bat. Although could this be a set up to Batwoman with the Elseworlds episode coming soon? If so will we see more Elseworlds nods on shows leading up to the crossover? Until shown otherwise I’m going to say it’s Batman though because everyone loves to tease the big names. Side note: why was she in Star City if she was arrested in Gotham for a crime?
I found Oliver saying he didn’t think about Raz’s family off because let’s not forget Nyssa was on board with taking him out in S3 so I think at least one family member doesn’t harbor resentment.
The writing for Black Siren is great….except for that redemption plot – it can go!
Lol to Cammie mocking the “Flash” bachelorette episode!
Here’s hoping Eve comes back! I know most fans don’t like her but I love her for calling out Oliver so if she comes back at least one person won’t hate it. What I do hate though is hearing Malcom will be back because that dude never faces consequences, this is assuming he’s in corporal form; if he’s in flashbacks I’m ok with that but actually back post island no thank you. Malcom is one character I’m more than ready to have a break from even though John plays him so well!
I hope Talia isn’t the demon the Level 1 crew was talking about because that is too on the nose for me to get thrilled about; I love seeing Lexa don’t get me wrong but Talia as the demon because she’s an heir of Raz no thank you.
Lol Dr. Evil Shrink.
“Is it because she’s going to be part of the team?” – STOP SAYING HORRIBLE THINGS Flash! This is the debate though, logically why would Siren help them? The writers will probably say “because redemption” to which I say “NO!” but that’s a separate discussion. It then follows if she is on the team how does that work given power wise she and Dinah are the same; does this mean less Black Canary when Black Siren is reporting for duty? Do they both go out? What’s the long term plan for that dynamic? This is one of the many reasons I say there’s no need to rush a redemption with Black Siren.
Ugh to the ending with Diaz, I know he’s all super jacked on something but really Anatoli is going to be a crying mess because of him even though he’s faced worse arguably? It’s not bad enough they’ve neutered Siren possibly but they have to wipe out Anatoli too? That did not feel like the Anatoli I knew before Diaz got in the picture; sure because of his strength Diaz might get the upper hand physically but I don’t think Anatoli would be so scared like he was in the end scene. I just do not get some character choices with these last two seasons.
I liked moments of the Argus stuff this episode, particularly Curtis telling Diggle why he was cautious about being in the field but as a whole the Argus stuff isn’t doing anything for me really this season. I’m hoping they’re setting it up to pay off in some form later this season with Lyla making back alley deals and Curtis doing this mission this week but in the mean time I’m just kind of “meh” to the Argus stuff.
The writers can pitch the Black Siren redemption plot all they want with Felicity and Dinah but I’m not buying it; I like this little thing called continuity and Black Siren seeking redemption doesn’t work with that as she has no reason to want it and no Quentin as a reason only makes me hate it more because he is the worst point for redemption to me as he stalked her and is trying to push Laurel’s identity onto her to have Laurel back, he doesn’t care about Black Siren the individual. Again there’s no need to rush this redemption or do it at all; they need a great villain/anti hero more than they need Laurel back. If you want Laurel you shouldn’t have killed her in the first place. #NeverLettingGoOfEvilSiren
NO CAMMIE DON’T GIVE IN, fight the urge; embrace Black Siren as the big bad she can be!
I’m most looking forward to Black Siren staying evil this season; it may be a pipe dream at this point but I’ll hold onto it forever. At the least again have her be a hardcore anti hero even more than Mick Roy on Legends. I just want goodness for Katie since they’re finally using her again; Black Siren is not Laurel Lance writers please remember that and don’t repeat the mistakes you did with Laurel in S4 particularly! #KeepBlackSirenEvil
To be fair Flash you could argue that by picking “the Queens reunite” you’re also saying yes to more flash forwards because a Queen reunion is possible there as well as now so you have people covering the field. Had the choices been a bit more distinct such as “Queen reunion now” or “Flash forward adventures” you may have seen different numbers. The wording could have played a bit into it for some.
Fake Laurel – love it Dazzler! 🙂
I have to say this episode did show great growth for Oliver and I’m much more preferring this version to hypocrite Oliver from seasons past.
If you do the spoiler question Flash I think you have to include “Depends On The Plot” as an option along with Yes/No because there are some fans like myself who want to know about certain plots but not necessarily all plots for the season be it due to not caring about the plot or because we don’t want to be spoiled at all. I definitely didn’t want to be spoiled when it came to “Continuum” spoilers because they just did those revels so well but there are other shows where I’ll check out spoilers and others I won’t because I don’t care enough so I think you need at least 3 options. I look forward to the poll results!
If spoilers win out Flash you could always do a flash forward segment on the podcast where that’s just Cammie’s deal while you read the news openings to be fair on duties and participation since you aren’t into spoilers. Of course if you edit the podcast you would have to have someone else add that section but it’s not impossible to do. It’s just an idea to help you stay spoiler free; although I am curious on what you personally define as a spoiler – does it have to be just video clips and plot reveals/casting news only or do you also include pictures which have no context such as seeing the photo of Grant, Tyler, and Stephen in their Elseworlds costumes? Or is that too much but say an episode still isn’t necessarily since again no audio. What is your level of spoil – none, some, or it depends?
The fight scenes have been great this season!
A GREAT debate question about Oliver in prison Carrie! Even if you take murder out of it at the least they commit property damage on a weekly basis so shouldn’t they have to work that off is a fair question. There’s definitely a lot of fun debates you can have with superheroes when you break down the every day effects of their actions and sadly not enough series explore that unique story plot on characters; I’m not saying every episode has to include team Arrow doing community service because they broke something last week but someone touching on this topic or even saying how a character is broke from paying for damages they caused would be a fresh entry into the genre.
“If I like it a lot I write a lot.” – same Carrie. 🙂
I love football but I do wonder what effect it’s having on “Supergirl” since we’re Sunday night; we’re also opposite this great season of “Doctor Who” so I wonder if that has something to do with our ratings and again I hope the football stuff isn’t held against us as CW knows Sunday is football day but they needed a lead in for the “Charmed” remake. I do think some ratings drops are due to some of the heavy handed plot stuff that still in this season and some questionable handling of a few characters but it shouldn’t be that much of a swing from any last season complains about those issues if you ignore football. Again because of the quality as a whole I feel “Supergirl” deserves at least the same number of seasons as “Arrow”.
#Steelers Flash.
