[sc:astop]Oliver Queen goes on trial for crimes allegedly committed as the Green Arrow this week, in a trial that essential is Star City vs. Oliver Queen. The fragments of Team Arrow must come together to testify for or against him, and as we’ve come to expect, Dragon has his talons in every part of the city, the trial, and the justice system, leaving the Queen family and the team to find a way to get one step ahead of the man who is one step ahead of everyone.
This spring Arrow will be airing on on Thursdays at 9pm ET. Our podcast episodes will be posted the following Saturday/Sunday, so we can accept email/voice feedback through Friday night – and maybe an early Saturday morning submission might make it in if you’re quick. 🙂

I will be channeling my inner Salty Cammie for this post because WHY CAN’T WE HAVE NICE THINGS ARROW WRITERS?! Flash you are welcome to try and put a positive spin on what happened with Laurel this week but I don’t think you can sway me on this one.
I don’t know if Katie had flashbacks to S4 reading this week’s episode but I am offended on her behalf, this was some grade A bull when it came to her stuff; Black Siren who has no issues killing multiple people on the island, who murdered Vince happily, who has no love for anyone in that city is going to go soft because some dude forced his opinions on her? GIVE ME A BREAK WRITERS! Why are you doing to this to her?! This is a disservice to Black Siren as a villain, a disservice to Laurel Lance 1.0 by suggesting she’s exchangeable, and a disservice to Katie Cassidy who you screwed in S4 by giving her nothing to do then killing Laurel off because you made her the expendable one and did it so poorly but you got her back somehow and now you’re doing it to her again and for what – to make Lance look good? I didn’t know ben needed the help; if anything this has hurt him in my opinion. Is her holding back to make Diaz look stronger? Surely you can build up your male character without tearing down a female one – you did Prometheus well! I am just so mad about the way they’ve treated Laurel 2.0 in this episode I can’t even right now.
We’ll see how this post goes beyond it…
A very cool use of the numbers for the trial!
It shouldn’t have been surprising that it was Human Target as the judge but it was for me when I saw it live because like Flash I was thinking it mean the judge wasn’t corrupt and that was great.
“Arrow” doesn’t do great fight scenes and the opening was bad I’ll agree.
If they’re going to do Human Target multiple times a season I want a plot at least once where they think it’s Target but really it’s the real person who’s injured.
I don’t mind Dragon having a dampener on him, but I do agree Laurel should have taken him out then or as Cammie said she could have shot him too! The Black Siren plot was just all crap this episode and should be lit on fire to finish creating the dumpster fire that it is; I just can’t ok them crapping on her like it felt they did here.
Eh, I think it’s ticky Flash to say Siren is so shocked she doesn’t have her scream so she can’t fight back because she’s had that used on her like 3 times already by various people so surprised ok, unable to switch to play B no. That’s like believing Laurel 1.0 died because she was surprised by Damien Darhk even though she takes 10 minutes to watch him defeat others and then just lets him kill her without even trying a scream. I don’t know what it is with the writers and characters named Laurel played by Katie Cassidy but they’re dropping the ball on that writing; they start out well with her and then crap it out at the end and again I ask for what? Why can’t Laurel 2.0 want to kill Dragon because that’s what she wants to do not because Lance told her to basically? Why can’t she get a shot in on him even if he survived to show he can be beat at times or at least he’s not untouchable? It’s just crap and I’m extremely disappointed about the Black Siren plot this week.
You can shoot someone without killing them so Dinah and Diggle could have arguably still done that again to show he isn’t untouchable.
To be fair they have used William decently so far; he is not the child stereotype plot completely I feared he might be and I’m glad for that!
Sadly I’m not holding my breath for Oliver to apologize to Dinah because while it would be great to see him really apologize, especially how many times he’s apologized to Renee, I just have a weird feeling they’ll let it go and that one scene she got at the apartment will be it and I have to say it makes me angry 1) because visually it’s unpleasant to see female Dinah get one half done apology even though she’s innocent in it all mainly but guilty male Renee has had two from Oliver which yes one Oliver was trying to be the bigger person and the other Renee did deserve a thank you some for the judge plan but still it’s like if you can find time to give him two why can’t you give Dinah two or one legit one? It’s like Oliver and writers forgot it was him falsely accusing her of the crime that outed Renee to start with – it’s not because she’s guilty of siding with the wrong team if you will so he’s saying it to be a bigger man he owes her an apology for accusing her of a crime she didn’t commit and then getting mad that she’s mad because of it. Visually on a gender level it’s just extremely annoying. On a character level it’s just frustrating too because if Dinah was Diggle it would still feel like the innocent character is getting short changed if you will and that’s not ok so I fully believe Oliver needs to find a minute to apologize to Dinah and I would prefer it to be on screen given everyone else’s has been so far but again I’m not holding my breath.
AGREED Geoff regarding Laurel!
“She’s soft now.” – but why?! Why is Black Siren the one who has to be soft, what is so wrong with her being evil?! I do not understand the idea behind this plot as a redemption feels like trying to make up for S4 mistakes which with me they can’t because Laurel’s exit was so poorly done and it doesn’t fit the character unlike say Vince who wanted to be good for Dinah, Black Siren has no loyalty to anyone organically on that Earth thus trying to force one on her via Lance has again just hurt them both. If she’s still evil why even have her be soft for Quentin at all, why not just let her play him and stick with it? It was just a blazing hot dumpster fire this week with Black Siren and all I can see is more problems than not with the story if they continue with redemption on any level except her killing Diaz because she herself is over him not because some guy to her too because that’s the only “redemption” I want to see; good guys and bad guys can work together to take out another bad guy to them both without the bad guy turning good to do it – see Malcolm helping Oliver take down Raz but using it to take over the spot later. EMBRACE EVIL BLACK SIREN!!! Even if it means she’s only there for a season as the bad guy it would be much more satisfying and memorable than watching them try to make up for the bad of killing Laurel in S4 basically and hurting every character involved in that plot along the way.
I don’t mind Black Siren working with male villains but I do agree they’re seemingly handicapping her at times for suspect reasons. I’m still high on seeing her as a solo villain but if she gets a partner let them see her as a true equal not a tool they can use and ditch later.
I’m hoping Caity is coming back as either Flashback Sara or Earth 2 Sara who may be a flashback for Laurel in that sense as well because if she’s LOT Sara then just keep her away – Sara has enough going on she doesn’t need to be drug down by this plot too. Are they sending Black Siren to LEGENDS Flash because if not then why even involve Sara? If they do a redemption is still going to be disappointing over there; again no good comes from a redemption for Black Siren! Had they originally had her conflicted like Vince about her feelings for someone or had she even spoken about the desire to change on her Earth for some reason it might be one thing but as is the Black Siren we were introduced to to me is more intriguing than any redeemed version could be so I wish they’d go back to just letting her be a kick butt villain who uses all the information they’ve foolishly given her to mess with them more and angers them in part by using Laurel’s face so how do you protect good Laurel’s legacy from her while also trying to take her down, it’s much more refreshing than an arguable forced redemption plot.
Hey guys!
I know that tv is made of cliches. This time it’s the “man wanting to rule the city/country/world/universe”. It can be well written like on Black Lightning or it can be boring to death like Arrow and The Flash.
Diaz wants to take over Star City. But why? Just for the sake of having it? No agenda, no vengeance, nothing? I’m tired of this storyline and therefore I didn’t like the past 2 episodes. And just like Cammie said, it’s not believable that no one will kill him. Yes, Diggle could’ve killed him outside the Courthouse.
I have a really hard time believing he can 1)bribe the entire city 2)the entire city being that afraid of him that no one will do nothing about it. It’s one thing to pay out cops, but high officials? These guys aren’t cheap and they’re probably well connected. I doubt they’d stay quiet and accept what’s going on. Even on Gotham, the craziest city in the world, the villains could only put the police on their pockets. Where the hell does Diaz get all that money from so he can make the entire city work for him?
And Siren…oh my. If she’s that afraid of him why didn’t she kill him the first time she went to his place? When he let her go after chocking her his head was right there, really close to her mouth. Why didn’t she scream? They were alone and he wasn’t expecting her to do anything so it was the perfect opportunity. Of course the second time around he would be prepared.
And don’t get me started on Rene wanting to help Oliver now because up until the previous episode he couldn’t care less about him. I can’t wait for him to leave. I don’t know if this is going to happen and I hope so.
A while back I wrote a feedback saying that the writers were going to make a really good job to convince me that Diaz was a good villain. Writers, you have failed this fan.
Till next time,
Karina
