In this week’s midseason finale of Arrow, Team Arrow faces one of the biggest villains yet: themselves. As the team tries to out a mole, the league of villains which has been plaguing the city also undergoes shocking changes, as what starts as a wedding celebration dissolves into a threat which could change everything.
In this year’s four-show crossover, all of our heroes come together for a wedding, but find themselves facing off against the most evil villain yet. With not only our world, but other universes on the line, the the largest team yet of heroes, superheroes, and more band together and go to war. On our podcast this week, we discuss this crossover, with a focus on the journey of the Arrow characters throughout.
Thanksgiving has come to Star City, and with it comes a whirlwind of cold villains and warm family moments for our heroes. With an increasing number of Team Arrow members taken out by villains, the FBI, and physical illness, the remaining team is left to defend the city against a massive attack from Caden James. This week’s holiday episode delivered no shortage of shocking moments and buzz-worthy scenes for us to discuss here!
As the end of our two-part Slade saga draws to a close, the stakes rise for both Slade and Oliver, as they face off with unexpected villains in the attempt to save his son Joe, interspersed between flashbacks highlighting the origin of Slade’s previous vendetta against Oliver. Meanwhile, back in Star City, Diggle’s past decisions come back to haunt him, as Richard Dragon is introduced as a new foe for the team.
This week is the first of a two-part story, with Oliver and Slade headed off on a mission to rescue Slade’s son, while the rest of the team remains behind in Star City to face a familiar villain: Vigilante. Team Arrow also faces rising heat from FBI Agent Samanda Watson, as she expands her search for the colleagues of the Green Arrow. Flashbacks into Slade and his son’s past shed light on why this rescue mission may not be as straightforward as initially planned.
Villains continue to be unveiled this week as the identity of Cayden James is made known, as well as his target: Felicity Smoak. Team Arrow has to tackle the new kind of threat he and Helix bring, with the return of other villains and potential allies – and Oliver attempts to support his team without being in the field, in a role-reversal that proves to be a challenge as the villains pile up this episode.
This week we find Team Arrow under a new face and new leadership, as Diggle picks up the mantle of Green Arrow, per Oliver’s request. A new villain (Onyx) faces off against this new incarnation of Team Arrow, while the team tries to figure out how to work together after all the secrets and change-ups. Meanwhile, Oliver juggles duties as the mayor and as a father, as new challenges arrive on each front, and a new anti-vigilante referendum threatens the safety of everyone on the team and in the city.
As Oliver Queen struggles to squelch the rising questions and leaks exposing a connection between the Green Arrow and Star City’s mayor, his team comes face-to-face with a familiar Russian friend/enemy. Tension mounts as Diggle is forced to bring to light secrets that are incapacitating him, while Felicity and Curtis have an idea that may help the team going forward. Meanwhile, Oliver also struggles with issues at home, as fathering William is turning out to be a more complex job that it seemed.
As the title of the season 6 premiere of Arrow suggests, Oliver Queen is left to deal with the fallout of the island explosion, both from the position of the Green Arrow, and also as the mayor of Star City. Familiar and unfamiliar villain faces stand in his way, as the story of what happened on the island unfolds, and we’re left with the answer to the question we’ve had all summer: who from Team Arrow survives?
On our preseason kickoff, Martin and Cammie chat about all the highlights from season 5, the teasers for season 6 (no major spoilers!) and what we can expect from our Team Arrow heroes. In season 6 of Arrow we’ll have an all new time and date, on Thursdays at 9pm EST (on the CW network) and we’re looking forward to new stories, familiar faces, and a long lineup of known and unknown villains for our heroes to tackle. Casting news, storyline speculations, and who survived the island? It’s all here.
